An absolute staple of the Busan experience! Jagalchi Market is a massive, energetic hub that perfectly captures the city's vibrant coastal life. It's an incredible combination of indoor modern facilities and local, traditional street stalls. •How it Works: The system is super fun and straightforward. You explore the massive ground floor (1F), which is packed with rows of live tanks. You pick out exactly what you want—from giant crabs and abalone to fresh fish and live octopus. The vendor prepares it, and you head upstairs to the dining floor (2F) to have it cooked fresh on the spot. •The Food Experience: The freshness is unbeatable. The Korean-style sashimi (hweh) is perfectly firm and clean, and having your chosen seafood prepared as a bubbling spicy fish stew (maeuntang) or grilled in butter is amazing. It comes served with a great selection of classic side dishes (banchan). •The Outdoor Stalls: Don’t skip walking around the exterior streets. The traditional outdoor market alley has a wonderful, authentic atmosphere where local older women (the famous Jagalchi Ajumeoni) display an unbelievable variety of fresh and dried seafood under colorful umbrellas.
View on GoogleJagalchi Market is a must-visit if you're in Busan, especially if you love seafood. It's an enormous fish market with an incredible variety of fresh seafood, making it a fascinating place to explore. We had the opportunity to eat there and it was a fantastic experience. We ordered a fresh fish, which was prepared half as sashimi and half cooked, so we could enjoy it in two different ways. We also tried the octopus, which was incredibly tender, and the cooked crab, which was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend experiencing a meal here. It's one of the best ways to enjoy Busan's seafood culture and definitely 100% worth it.
View on GoogleVery fresh seafood. Walk past all the shops on the street and make sure to go in to the actual building. Second floor has food vendors who will cook your fish from the first floor or something off an extensive menu of fresh caught seafood
View on GoogleFor seafood lovers, this place is an absolute must-visit. Head up to the second floor where you can enjoy freshly cooked seafood or try their famous marinated seafood dishes. There are two ways to enjoy your meal here you can either buy fresh seafood yourself from the street vendors or the seafood market on the first floor, then bring it upstairs to be cooked, or simply order directly from the restaurant on the second floor. We ordered the king crab legs, which were around 75,000 won per kilogram if I remember correctly. My friends were especially impressed by the marinated raw crab. I personally didn’t dare to try it, but according to them, it was incredibly fresh and delicious
View on GoogleI visited Jagalchi Market during my stay in Busan and had a very enjoyable experience. The market is one of the most famous attractions in the city and offers an impressive selection of fresh seafood. Walking through the different stalls was interesting, as there was a wide variety of fish, shellfish, and other local specialties on display. The atmosphere was lively and authentic, giving visitors a chance to experience a different side of Korean culture. The vendors were welcoming, and even though the market was quite busy, it was easy to find places to stop and explore. I also appreciated the opportunity to try freshly prepared seafood, which tasted delicious and was clearly very fresh. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the market can be crowded and a little overwhelming, especially during peak hours. Some prices were also higher than I expected in a tourist area. However, these are minor drawbacks compared to the overall experience. Overall, Jagalchi Market is a great place to visit if you enjoy seafood, local culture, and vibrant markets. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Busan.
