I was in Ikebukuro around lunchtime, so I decided to try the ramen place I’d been curious about for a long time This place is usually busy with a line of people outside, but this time only two groups were about to buy tickets, so I guessed I wouldn’t have to wait that long After they went into the restaurant, I tapped the screen of the ticket machine, but it told me to insert money first. So I put in a bill and selected the white chicken ramen topped with an egg. It was in the top-left corner of the menu, which I assumed meant it was the standard option After stepping inside, I found a U-shaped counter where none of the fourteen seats were available. I was told to wait near the edge of the restaurant. A few minutes later, someone left, and I was shown to a seat. I’d expected the wait not to be too long, but it was even quicker than I had expected On top of that, the bowl arrived very soon. I wondered how efficiently the kitchen was operating despite the busy lunchtime rush. Anyways, the ramen looked simple but appealing. It came with a pale golden broth, bamboo shoots, green onion, minced chicken, two slices of chicken, and a boiled egg stamped with the shop’s logo. It really felt like a bowl centered around chicken I took a sip of the broth first, and it was excellent. I was surprised by how rich it tasted. I hadn’t expected it to be so creamy, which was a pleasant surprise. The bamboo shoots were relatively thick and satisfying, while the noodles were thick and chewy. The chicken was delicious as well. Every ingredient was nicely coated with the broth, and they complemented one another well. The green onion added freshness to the rich broth. Lastly, I tried the egg, which also paired perfectly with the broth Overall, the bowl was really satisfying. I was curious about the bowl with red broth that the guy next to me was having. I’ll definitely be back to try that one
View on GoogleThe first time I came to Japan back in 2018, this was literally the first ramen I ever tried. My first day, my first meal, everything. And ever since then, I haven’t found a single ramen I like more. I’ve come back multiple times, and every time I’m in Japan, this place is a must. Whenever friends visit, I either bring them here or recommend it, and every single one of them ends up saying the same thing: it’s amazing. One thing I really like is that, even though there’s usually a line, it’s not overly hyped on social media like other spots. And honestly, that makes it even better. it keeps that special feel and doesn’t become impossible to visit. That said, they definitely deserve more hype. You can tell they’ve been doing this right for years. It’s not just the flavor, it’s the consistency. It’s always just as good. For me, this place isn’t just ramen: it’s part of my very first experience in Japan. And that alone makes it special, but the taste is what keeps it at number one.
View on GoogleFor anyone looking for the ultimate chicken ramen experience in Ikebukuro, Tori no Ana is a legendary spot! 🏆 Unlike traditional soy or pork-based ramen, they specialize in "Tori Paitan" (creamy chicken broth) so thick and smooth it’s often called "Chicken Potage." 🥣💛 The soup is the true star—unbelievably rich and packed with umami, yet it doesn't feel heavy. It’s like a warm, comforting hug in a bowl. 🤤 I highly recommend the "Shira-tori Ramen" (White Chicken Ramen) to start. The medium-thick noodles have the perfect chew and grip the creamy soup beautifully. Don't forget to add the flavored egg (Ajitama)—it comes with their signature logo branded right on the white of the egg, which is such a cute, unique touch! 🥚🎨 The chicken char siu and minced chicken soboro add great texture and flavor to the dish. The shop is modern, clean, and has a cozy counter-only setup. It’s located just a short walk from Ikebukuro East Exit, making it an easy pit stop. If you want a bowl of ramen that feels like a masterpiece of chicken flavor, this is it! 🥂🇯🇵
View on GoogleS- [must try / must eat] · cheap + delicious chicken ramen thats under 1000 Yen as of March 2025!!! · ordered from vending machine that eats cash only (no suica x.x) · ramen noodles tasted chewy (its uniquely thick size) · chicken broth was creamy + served piping hot O.O · added their signature egg for more $$$ (it looked better for photo too) · chicken thigh slices tasted very delicious (their add on toppings = worth getting here) · ask for a paper apron to save your clothes from random chicken soup attacks · theres only countertop seating inside (i came when they opened at 5 PM to skip big line) tldr: when in Ikebukuro must eat this chicken ramen /ᐠ. .ᐟ\ฅ
View on GoogleThe food was so delicious. I had the regular chicken ramen with soft boiled egg. You can order through the vending machine and it only accepts cash. The lady who was serving us was very friendly, during our meal, we were the only foreigners there and it felt very authentic. I feel like I would be a regular here If I lived in Tokyo.
