This is a long-established coffee shop in Ikebukuro. 1F is a bakery, 2F is a coffee shop, and 3F is a restaurant. This time I visited for breakfast. Since it was a weekday, it was quiet just after opening, but people kept coming in and it quickly filled up. My impression was that about half were foreigners, who weren't around in the past. The customers varied in age. There are several breakfast options, such as toast sets and toasted sandwich sets, but I decided to make the most of the visit and had the hotcake set. The hotcakes had an old-fashioned flavor and were delicious. What made me happy was the unlimited coffee refills, which are rare these days. I couldn't help having 2,3 cups. It had the good flavors of a traditional coffee shop, but unfortunately, although it isn't the shop's fault, the foreigners were noisy. Really noisy. I wanted to relax in a coffee shop, but they were making a loud commotion. I couldn't wait until my movie time and left early. To repeat, it isn't the shop's fault, but I couldn't help thinking they could put up notices in foreign languages asking people not to speak loudly. I'd like to visit again at a time when there are no foreigners. (Though I don't know when that would be.) Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleTea-time set ¥950 The Seibu building in Ikebukuro looks abandoned, so the view isn't good. The interior is Showa retro. Perhaps the elderly and middle-aged male staff aren't very good at polite service? Just a guess, but is this a spot for arranged-marriage meetings? 5 couples looked that way. Starting to clear things away while I'm still drinking coffee, asking, “May I take your finished plate?” is a bit much. ★Payment is cash only. Take note‼️ It was a coffee shop suitable for various uses. Oh, I forgot. The taste was decent.
View on GoogleAfter lunch at Takase on the 3rd floor, I relax at Takase Coffee Lounge one floor below. The food models at the entrance are very old and don't look appetizing, but the actual sweets are genuinely delicious. I recommend the window seats for the nice view.
View on GoogleTakase Coffee Lounge… A coffee shop on the 9th floor of the building housing the Takase bakery, outside the east exit of Ikebukuro Station. They have sandwich sets, cake sets, parfaits, pudding à la mode, and other retro but large and filling meals and snacks. However, it's extremely popular and was very crowded on weekends and holidays. I went on the middle day of a three-day holiday, wrote my name at reception, and there were already about 5 groups waiting. There were all sorts of customers: families, couples, and women on their own. Be prepared to wait patiently. They had also apparently run out of whipped cream, so the popular pudding à la mode and some parfaits were sold out. Oh dear…. But I could still order pudding and cheesecake, so all good!! Their sweetness matched the mellow coffee. The place was lively and noisy, but it seemed fine for chatting at a table.
View on GoogleBoth the coffee and cake were delicious; very satisfied. It's not a modern-style cake. The cake set is reasonably priced at 1100円. So honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but it was genuinely delicious. I'd like to visit again when I'm in Ikebukuro.
