For a tourist like me, I think this shop is a fuss-free place to simply enjoy Unagi cuisine. For some reason, it's a bit hidden away behind an escalator. I'm glad to have noticed it. Ordered a hitsumabushi set for ¥2800 during dinnertime. Lunch set apparently has a good promo tion discount. Personally, I find it to be delicious and I'm grateful to have the chance to try a hitsumabushi set for the first time.

View on GoogleLast year when I came to Japan on vacation, I visited with my cousin who lives in Japan and tried the "ochazuke" eel rice bowl for the first time. You eat it with tea steeped with something like yuzu(?) poured over it, and it was easy on the stomach, clean-tasting, and delicious. A year later I came on vacation again, revisited, and had it again. The friend who came with me also says it's the most delicious, most memorable food they had on this trip.
View on GoogleVisited for lunch when I came to Ikebukuro for work. It's right by Higashi-Ikebukuro Station, and it caught my eye as soon as I came out of the ticket gate, so I went in. It's a ticket-machine system, and what I ordered was the Unagi Kabayaki & Shirayaki Ju Set Meal ¥2,200 Apparently this set is limited to 20 servings! Being able to eat two kinds, kabayaki and shirayaki, is a nice plus! And being able to eat these two kinds of eel for the 2,000-yen range is reasonable👏 Served about 5 minutes after ordering. Fast service at weekday lunchtime is much appreciated! The kabayaki eel had soft flesh and a nice amount of fat◎ The rice is from Hachidaime Gihey in Kyoto, cooked slightly firm, and delicious. The shirayaki is eaten with salt. Since there's no sauce, you taste the eel directly! It's light, but has the savoriness of the fat too, a different flavor from the kabayaki. Adding wasabi brings out the eel's natural flavor even more. It was great to enjoy both kabayaki and shirayaki for the 2,000-yen range!
View on GoogleThe restaurant feels clean, with an atmosphere that's easy to walk into for people of all ages and genders. The lunchtime-only premium una-don, limited to 20 servings at 1400 yen, sells out by 1 p.m., so they say to come early. The Tsukishima-style unagi doteyaki set meal I had was very delicious, and the beef was tender and easy to eat. At this quality, 1700 yen is outstanding value. On the table there's an eel sauce dispenser and sansho with a grinder, and wasabi comes with it too, so I could enjoy changing up the flavor to the very end. I'd like to come again to savor it. ※It's located right behind the escalator, so keep that in mind when looking for it.
