A must go to standing sushi bar that I found years ago when I happened to exit at Ikebukuro station exit C6. Hidden in the underground passage was what used to be a tiny basic standing sushi bar selling top grade sushi from 120 yen per piece. The taste is still the same!! Now owned by the Midori Sushi chain, the size remains the same but they now have a bigger selection of sushi and have installed individual electronic order screens instead of manual writing. There can be long queues so it’s best to go early as there are only about 10 standing spots. A highly recommended must try when in Tokyo!!
View on GoogleStanding sushi bar. Google address is misleading, it’s in the station, not in the basement of Echika. Very affordable, around 20 USD for 15 pieces of sushi. The sets come with miso soup. Everything tasted fresh and it was quick. I recommend going on non peak hours, we went around 4:30 and were seated in less than ten minutes.
View on GoogleThe wait is unreal but there’s a reason for that. This is one of the best cost performance sushi restaurants I’ve ever been in. Tuna was unreal, Uni was so fresh. Fantastic service. I had to go twice in two days I couldn’t believe it. When’s my next Japan trip?
View on GoogleHidden in the underground passage was a great, quality, chained-sushi shop. The shop itself was small with the standing bar and tables that fit 10 people. All the ingredients was great and the set menu was good variety especially for limited lunch set. You can order and see the bill via tablet in each seating (stand). We love the long unagi sushi (Japanese eel)
View on Google7 years ago it was a tiny basic sushi bar run by 4 sushi chefs selling top grade sushi from 120 yen per piece. Now owned by the Midori Sushi chain, the size remains the same with about 8 seats. However. they've upped the game with a bigger selection of sushi, installed individual electronic order screens for each seat, choice of soup, drinks and a staff to man the people. They've also taken over the adjacent sushi takeaway, so those not having time to queue can grab meals. I also noticed that the chef change with each shift. Pricier but the long queues have now formed and do not abate. After 3 tries, I went at open time, still had to wait half an hour but managed to get in. I just went to town! It was worth it! My favourite was white bait and minced tuna sashimi.
