We came for the vegetable dumplings. We tried some assorted dumplings (6 per person) and some green tea. The dumplings were steamed, then fried crispy on one side. I liked the contrast between the soft and crispy textures. The dumplings came in different colors. We couldn’t order off the menu, they were just the dumplings of the day. We tried to differentiate the flavors, they were certainly tasty, but it was difficult to tell what was what as the flavors were not distinct. The shop only has six seats (three tables). There’s a magazine rack along the wall, which I found curious as I’d assume she’d want to turn the tables vs having customers sitting around reading magazines. Also, some of the magazines appeared old, which lead me to believe they were for ornamentation, but honestly I haven’t a clue. The woman was very friendly. I take it she’s been running her shop for a long time. When we inquired about where she was from in Taiwan, she told us proudly she was from Kaohsiung (a town of which we hold fond memories). When I said I thought she may be the Patron Saint of Dumplings, she laughed and said, “No, no. I’m not a chef, nor a cook, I’m just a waitress.” One thing can be rest assured is that she’s very modest.
View on GoogleThis place is so special. Wonderful staff, tiny charming dining area, and PHENOMENAL food. I make a point to stop in whenever I'm in Tokyo. The waitress will ask what your dietary restrictions are and how hungry you are, and recommend the number and filling of dumplings. The dumplings are of course fantastic - rich and herby, with a bouncy skin. Some shiso, some basil, some seasonal veggie - all delicious. The fillings change daily, and I've never had a miss. This time I also got the fried rice, which was truly the best fried rice I've ever had, studded with ginko nuts, greens, mock pork, mushrooms, and garlic. Cash only and take out friendly!
View on GoogleWe came here to eat and we had the best gyoza ever! The service was perfect and the ladies and the gentleman super kind. We had really good aubergines and different types of gyozas even vegan and vegetarian. Thank you so much really recommended!!
View on GoogleLoved the vegan dumplings here! Perfectly chewing wrappers with crispy bottoms. The shop owner spoke English and was very kind. Only six seats and the door was left open the entire time for ventilation. Due to COVID, they do not offer the full menu at this time and only have dumplings available.
View on GoogleThis cash only gyoza spot may be a hole in the wall and easy to miss, but it's great for small groups (we were a group of 3) looking for delicious gyoza- especially if you're looking for vegetarian options. The older lady who cooks and runs the place is super sweet and accommodating, whether you're a local or visiting from out of town.
