I had lunch at 山水園, a yakiniku restaurant in Otsuka. The meat was excellent quality, and the meal was so satisfying it hardly felt like a lunch offering. The aroma when grilled and the tenderness were particularly wonderful, and it paired perfectly with rice. The calm atmosphere and the chance to enjoy a leisurely meal were appealing too. The reimen also left an impression! The chewy noodles combined with the refreshing broth made it perfect after yakiniku. I appreciated being able to enjoy it to the last bite without it feeling too heavy. It's rare to find a restaurant with lunch of such high quality, and it made me want to return.

The prices are somewhat high, but in return, the atmosphere remains calm even at lunchtime. Being able to enjoy a leisurely meal is part of its appeal. The grills use real charcoal rather than gas. The ventilation is good too, so I appreciated not being bothered by smoke or odors. This time, I ordered the wagyu loin set. The marbling was beautiful even before grilling, and the quality was obvious just from looking at it. After slowly grilling it over charcoal and eating it with rice, the tenderness and savory flavor filled my mouth and made me smile without thinking. Lunch was thoroughly satisfying, but this was a place I'd love to return to for a leisurely evening meal.

山水園 is a yakiniku restaurant that has long been loved in Otsuka. There are lots of families among the customers, giving it a reassuring atmosphere. You may have to wait without a reservation on Saturdays and Sundays, but it's open continuously from lunch through dinner, so it's nice to be able to go whenever the mood strikes. All the meat is delicious, and the tongue is my particular favorite. There are several varieties, and the assorted tongue platter is another attraction. Lemon isn't included, but adding seasoned scallions makes it delicious enough, and they'll bring lemon if you ask. The kalbi gukbap and reimen are reliably tasty too, and overall I think it's good value.

A renowned, long-established place in Otsuka that doesn't disappoint! My first visit, with a senior colleague who's a regular. The signature “上タン” is thick-cut yet astonishingly tender and easy to bite through, with savory meat flavor bursting out every time you chew! It's so delicious I could eat just this forever! Definitely ordering another serving! The fat on the other meats, including kalbi and harami, was high quality too! It has the reassuring feel you'd expect from a long-established restaurant founded in Showa 34! It's very close to Otsuka Station too, so whenever you're in the mood for yakiniku, I definitely recommend it.
