A place I'd been curious about opened along Rikkyo-dori, so I gave it a try. The shop name is impossible for sauna lovers to miss. Being new, the inside is clean. I think the simple interior is stylish. The menu feels like a regular diner. I wondered if there's really any point in adding 'Sa-meshi' to the name. I can't help suspecting it's because writing that brings in customers. In fact, here's a sauna-loving middle-aged guy like me being drawn in just like that. The karaage was freshly fried and tasty, and the other menu items look good too. However, the cheap-looking tableware is a bit disappointing, even if it's a trade-off for efficiency. As for paying, I figured e-payment would surely be accepted given this stylish vibe, but no. Maybe it's just that the application is still pending, but without Suica or PayPay support it's hard to come back. The staff have a nice vibe too and are likeable, the location is highly visible, and there are other restaurants lined up alongside. And above all, Rikkyo University is right nearby, so it's convenient for student customers. The prices are neither too high nor too low. The menu has no photos, which makes ordering a bit hard, so I think they should add some.
View on GoogleThe inside is bright and clean. For the grand opening, the grilled beef bowl, 999 yen, was 500 yen. At 500 yen it's understandable, but at 990 yen the taste and tenderness of the meat are a bit lacking. I want to try other items and write about them again.
View on GoogleThe shop has a name that seems to make a bit of an impact. There, I had something called the sauce yakisoba bowl. The yakisoba itself had a rich feel with solid seasoning. Underneath is rice, so it's like a storm of carbs — which is obvious, since it's called a bowl. On top is a fried egg, so I'd say it's quite a satisfying dish. You order on your smartphone by scanning the QR code at your seat, but there's no explanation of this. There's a paper menu, so I think it'd be better to write instructions on it. For payment, besides cash, they also accept cashless options like QR payments. I think the shop's atmosphere is quite stylish. It seems to have a sauna theme — I guess it's going for the stylish kind of sauna like in Northern Europe.
View on GoogleUsed it for a weekday lunch. 90% of customers are men, with a lot of office workers. The counter and table seats are divided in the middle into pairs. The table's assembly(?) is weak, and it wobbles if you move even a little. The water is always sloshing, so you feel like you have to be careful about the person on the other side of the divider. You order by smartphone, but payment is cash. The daily chashu bowl had thin meat and strong (salty) flavor. The chashu had no melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. You get what you pay for.
View on GoogleThey were heavily promoting their fried rice, so I ordered it. As others have written, it was oily, soggy, and very heavy. I was shocked by the oil pooled on the plate at the end... (see image) Some parts of the rice were still white, so I also felt the seasoning was uneven. Spam fried rice is unusual, but that doesn't make it good. The soup that came with it tasted good, but like other reviews say, it had a smell like alcohol(?). I think that's a shame. Lastly, the service — I wouldn't go so far as to call it bad, but there's no warmth. Taking everything into account, I didn't feel like coming back to try the other menu items.
