Inside a foodhall on the basement floor of the Ikebukuro train station.

A shop where you can easily enjoy authentic Sanuki udon. Stopped by for lunch. It's inside the station, so it's easy to pop in and conveniently located. Kake udon with tempura: the limited-quantity shiitake ten and tori ten. Total 760 yen The tempura is freshly fried, crispy, and delicious. The shiitake is big and plump, the tori ten is juicy too, and the chewy, smooth noodles are delicious. The udon is tasty and there were many kinds of tempura like kakiage, so I'd like to come back to eat again.

I didn't know Merikenya from Kagawa had opened a shop here! I happened to pass by on a weekend morning and found it, so I had some udon. It was early, but lots of people were already eating udon. Service is quick and you can finish your meal fast, so I think it's very convenient. I was moved by how it was just as delicious as eating it in Kagawa. I'd like to come back.

It's a chain, so the taste is average. Prices are on the high side for the quality. The tempura especially is pricey for the quality. The renge spoons in front of the register were so dirty that I was hesitating over which to take, and the cashier did remove the extremely dirty one in front and put it in the washing area. Also, when I went to drink my water, there was oil floating on it. That was before I'd even put my lips to it. I got scared and stopped drinking. I figured the bowls were probably dirty too, but I'd already ordered, so I ate. The green onions and tenkasu had no lids either, which seemed unhygienic.
