very, very good bagels and cute little shop!! they are very accommodating & nice even if my Japanese wasn't the best. it is cash only, though (現金だけ) so make sure to bring cash with you!

Owner turned us away durning working hours with no reason, asked if it’s reservation only - no, asked if bagels were sold out - no, asked if she just didn’t want us in - awkward laughter. I assume she thought we were tourists and wanted to show some good old Japanese xenophobic omotenashi.

My absolute favorite neighborhood cafe of all the neighborhoods I’ve lived in, and I’ve lived in quite a few places. Yoshiko-san is an amazing baker, bartender, cook, decorator, plate-arranger, you name it. If you try nothing else, and even if you don’t stay inside, take yourself home some fresh bagels (before they sell-out in the afternoon).

チーズブラックペッパー、ブラックオリーブ、いちじくのベーグルをテイクアウト。天然酵母のパンは香りがよく、モチモチ食感は余りないですが、ドシッとした本格的な味わい。素朴なこれぞ本当のベーグルだ！感があります。店名は香麦荘と書いて(こむぎそう)。店主のこだわりが伺えます。店内は狭いですが、カウンターがあり食事も出来ます。
