Have fun experiencing disaster preparedness just 5 minutes from the station! At Ikebukuro Bosaikan, instructors guide you around each hands-on corner in a tour format. The basic course takes 1 hour 40 minutes. There's also a short course that takes 50 minutes. Night tours are held every Friday starting at 5 pm and 7 pm. Closed on the 1st Tuesday, the 3rd Tuesday, and the day after the 3rd Tuesday (if that falls on a national holiday, etc., the following day), and over the year-end and New Year holidays (December 29 to January 3).

It is an actual training center for local. Depsite we are tourist and don't speak Japanese, we were still warmly welcomed to experience the earthquake simulator. It provided us a glimpse of how was 311 feels like also tips when encountering earthquake. Very good lesson.

It was a fun and knowledgable experience here! We attended the Quick Earthquake Experience in the afternoon as it was the only tour available for non-Japanese speakers and if you didn’t have a translator. Not too sure if the it is available on other days, but we went on a Sunday. Anyway, the facilitator shared with us many facts on earthquakes, some history of earthquakes in Japan and on what to do to protect ourselves if we were to experience one. And we got to try out the simulation of multiple levels of intensity. I was quite nervous at first, but it was a very eye-opening experience. Highly recommend doing this if you’re visiting Tokyo!

I'm so sorry that I didn't manage an English tour at this place. It's organized twice a day, at 12 PM and 12:30 PM. I guess that you can always call and ask if it really happens. Staff lady at the place spoke a bit English and was nice to deal with. She told me to come back during the official tours so I actually have something from the tour.

On Friday (March 13, 2026), we went for a quick earthquake experience. It happens 2 times a day at 12:00 pm and 12:15 and is available if you don’t know Japanese (no reservation needed, first come - first served. Free of charge). The experience is relatively short (about 1 minute of an earthquake simulation per each 2 people in a group). We came at 11:20 am and were also offered to watch a movie about the infamous March 11th earthquake. We were communicating in English. Spanish was also available (I am pretty sure other popular languages are also available).
