Students from the Faculty of Regional Development Studies at Taisho University practice in the community and plan and operate 15 locations throughout Japan, focusing on local foods, ingredients, and specialties. Gamor Marche stores feature products from the Tohoku region and Miyazaki Prefecture, as well as specialties from all over Japan. The store is well displayed and gives the impression of being easy to shop in, although it would be nice if the interior were a bit more spacious. Onions from Awaji Island were on sale at a discount. (Awaji Island onions are slightly more expensive than domestic onions, but they are popular among cooks. *In my experience as a vegetable delivery person...)
View on GoogleA shop of delicious foods from various regions of Japan, run by students and alumni of Taisho University (Jodo Shu sect) as part of a regional co-existence project. As Ikenami Shotaro wrote in "Shikakenin Baian": "Monks are surprisingly discerning about food." Indeed, since many of them are children of temple families, who often have occasions to give fine delicacies as gifts and serve them to guests, everything is tempting. Every item is a genuine, delicious-looking product known only to those in the know, selected by the sellers with their own palates.
View on GoogleI didn't know there was an antenna shop in Sugamo gathering such a wide range of specialty products from various regions. I was happy to find lots of products that support Noto, as well as local products.
View on GooglePurchase time: a weekend afternoon, 2023/10. Reportedly opened by a local school, it's a shop specializing in specially selected souvenirs from various regions, and some products can also be sampled on site. That day I bought yuzu miso sauce and the No. 1 signature Sugamo pudding ($380), and the quality of both was great. The No. 1 signature Sugamo pudding has a soft, smooth texture with strong milk and egg aromas, though the bottom didn't have any particular caramel flavor. Although the price isn't cheap, the shop thoughtfully provides dry ice to keep it cold when you buy it and tells you the expiration date, which is very attentive. I only opened the yuzu miso sauce after returning to Taiwan. Its shelf life is very short, only about 4 months, but it was very delicious from the first bite. The miso is a bit on the sweet side and not too salty, and the yuzu aroma is very pronounced. It's great for dipping unseasoned meat slices and grilled mushrooms. I kind of regret buying only one jar, and I haven't seen this product again at any other supermarket. I hope I'll have the chance to buy it again next time,
