There are 2 places near Ikebukuro Station where you can eat it Since the prices are on the higher side, I thought it might be empty, and sure enough I got in with no wait✨ Headed to "Ajino Miyagawa" on the 12th floor of Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro Since it was a little past peak time, I got in with almost no wait✨ This time I had 『Unagi Jubako〈Jo〉(with eel liver soup & pickles)』5,170yen My impression was that the eel might be a bit thinner this year? But it was grilled plump and fluffy, and the fragrant aroma whets the appetite The small bones bothered me a little, but the liver soup also had an elegant flavor and I enjoyed it to the very end😋 A slightly luxurious lunch on Doyo no Ushi no Hi It was a moment to feel the season

On Doyo no Ushi no Hi, I visited the long-established eel restaurant "Ajino Miyagawa Ikebukuro Tobu" in the restaurant area of Tobu Department Store✨ It's a Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy everything from unaju and kabayaki to seasonal Japanese dishes and à la carte items, perfect not only for a meal but also for those who want to take their time savoring food with sake🍶 The atmosphere is calm, so it's easy to use for family meals, dinners, and business entertaining, and you can savor authentic eel grilled with traditional techniques! 🍽️ What I ordered Unagi Jubako〈Jo〉(with eel liver soup & pickles) 5,170 yen "Today it's got to be eel!" so I ordered without hesitation✨ It had been a while since I last had eel, and when I saw the price I couldn't help but be surprised: "Was eel always this expensive!?"😂 But the moment I took a bite, it was so delicious that the price made total sense! ✨ Tasting review (highlights) The moment it arrived, a fragrant aroma spread and my appetite went into full gear🤤 The surface is grilled golden and fragrant, while the inside is plump and tender. The fat is just right, and the way it falls apart in your mouth is irresistible✨ The perfectly balanced sauce, not too sweet and not too strong, goes amazingly well with the rice!🍚 The rice just kept disappearing, and before I knew it I had finished everything in no time. The liver soup had an elegant flavor and the pickles were a nice accent, making this a highly satisfying unaju I never got tired of to the very end♪ 👍 What was good 🐟 Eel that's fragrant on the surface and plump and thick inside 🍚 Sauce with a perfect sweet-savory balance that keeps you eating rice 🍵 Comes with liver soup & pickles, so it stays delicious to the end 🏬 Near Ikebukuro Station & inside Tobu Department Store, so access is excellent 🌞 Perfect for Doyo no Ushi no Hi or a lunch to treat yourself! Let's get through this year's scorching heat by building up stamina with delicious eel💪✨

I ordered the jo (premium) eel. The flavor was light and the grilling wasn't to my liking. The soup was kimosui (liver soup). If anything, the tempura set meal at ¥2860 was tastier. 3 shrimp, chawanmushi, simmered dishes (shimeji, carrot, ganmo?, eggplant), simmered hijiki, and oshinko pickles. It might be better to choose the set meal over the jubako.

While walking through the restaurant area of Tobu Department Store looking to eat eel, I found the eel and Japanese restaurant "Ajino Miyagawa" and had unaju. I ordered the unaju jo. Compared to eel at specialist eel restaurants, it was small and the rice portion was small too, and the taste wasn't as good as I'd expected. (2026.7.12)

I had the eel and tempura set, and both were high quality and very satisfying. The eel was plump and tender, with a lightly sweet sauce coating it well for a refined flavor. The tempura had a light batter that let you really taste the natural flavor of the ingredients, giving it a high-end taste. Overall it felt carefully made, and being able to eat in a relaxed mood is another appeal. The satisfaction matches the price, and I think it's perfect when you want to enjoy proper Japanese food.
