Fabulous little free museum, with clear explanations in English of local history from 30,000 years upwards. They have some great hands on exhibits where you can try and drill a hole, do pot rubbing and of course dress up from earlier times. The outside houses were lovely to walk around in a pretty park. Well worth a visit from Central Tokyo if you are interested in archaeology and history.

Free, interesting, near many parks and shops and amusement parks, and with a garden and English descriptions.

I thought this little museum provided a ton of information about the history of the region for its size. So many very old artifacts on display, or in their visible little warehouse room. Quite a bit of English explanation provided so that was great for me.

This small museum is a free exhibit right next to Sanrio Puroland. It's good, quick tourist spot for families or people who are interested in the ancient history of the Japanese or the Tokyo area. The Joumon era is defined by the sedentary hunter gather people who lived during that time and this museum has different artifacts on display and a couple interactive features as well. They also have a collection of ancient things, I think for research pieces and outside they have some life-size models of the typical Joumon living structure. All of their information is available in Japanese and English so definitely check it out!
