ikkaku
A somewhat relaxed izakaya and bistro focusing on wine and sake, with craft beer, lemon sours, highballs, and more. The wine selection includes Japanese and natural wines, while the sake is mainly junmai, with many warm sake options. The food is based on French and Italian cuisine, including semi-dry mentaiko prepared like karasumi, ginger-seasoned nametake, and homemade amanatto mixed with mascarpone, allowing you to pair various drinks according to your mood that day. Solo guests are very welcome! An easygoing place for a drink.

View on GoogleThis bistro is on a street about a 5-minute walk from the east exit of 聖蹟桜ヶ丘駅 on the 京王線. There were around 6 counter seats and several tables seating 2〜4 people, totaling about 20 seats. The restaurant's hours were 17:30〜0:00, so hoping to enjoy a leisurely time with a friend, I booked for 2 at opening time, 17:30, and we got in without trouble. It was Sunday, but perhaps because we arrived early, there was no one else there. First, we were shown the food menu, which offered bistro staples such as cutlets, confit, and game, along with interesting dishes such as zeppole, a local specialty from Naples, Italy. The drinks menu was also very varied, fitting a restaurant with “wine and sake” in its name. They had popular Japanese natural wines such as 共栄堂, which made me happy enough to order one. As we waited excitedly, the otoshi arrived. Vegetable snacks such as turnip and bell pepper came on an adorable lapis-blue heart-shaped plate. The care put into the tableware made a very good impression. Personally, I find that restaurants with tasty vegetable snacks often care about their ingredients and are lovely places. Their otoshi was delicious too, so I remember growing more excited about the dishes to come. My favorite of the dishes we ordered was the cheese and fresh nori zeppole. Though the portion was small, the flavor was wonderful, making me spontaneously order more, thinking that once you've finished, why not simply order again? Zeppole is essentially fried bread, and bread, oil, fresh nori, and cheese couldn't possibly fail to go with alcohol. Haha Eating the chewy, pleasantly salty bread and sipping wine made me feel wonderfully happy. We continued enjoying ajillo, gratin, a cheese platter, and more with various wines, having a lovely time and discussing which meat dish and wine to order next……. Suddenly, loud crashing! Clattering! sounds rang out, startling us so much that our conversation stopped. At first I thought dishes had broken, but looking toward the noise, it seemed to be dishwashing. Whether the dishes were being handled carelessly or the person wasn't good at washing them, the noise was incredibly loud. I'm not usually sensitive to sound, and this is about the only restaurant where dishwashing noise has bothered me. You may think, surely not over something like this…… but the prolonged noise made both of us lose our appetite at once. Since we'd been enjoying the food and drinks so much, it was extremely disappointing to have our enjoyment spoiled by something like this.
View on GoogleMy regular spot. You can savor the owner's carefully selected wine and sake. You might discover rare bottles or niche favorites. If you can't decide, ask the owner, who explains things thoughtfully. There's plenty of food, and happily they offer half portions, making it friendly for solo drinking. I recommend the pasta.
View on GoogleSo many kinds of drinks! Not only wine and sake, but various beers too. The wines by the glass were especially varied, and I loved being able to try different ones. All the food was delicious, from dishes that kept the drinks flowing to substantial mains. I'll be back!
