Seemed like a very nice place for locals who were clearly having a good time. Eschewing any normal kind of greeting formula or other form of courtesy, the owner addressed us with an umprompted lecture on how this was not a restaurant but a "bar" (superfluous given our familiarity with izakayas). That probably should have been a warning sign, yet, after assuring him that we were well aware of this fact, we were assigned two seats at the bar and handed a menu. He then proceeded to ignore us despite our obvious need for a little help with the drink menu. We could have ordered something without difficulty but wanted at least a brief rundown on the non-alcoholic options for one of us, options which definitely existed. These were met with repeated deferrals to a lack of ability to speak English (which wouldn't have been necessary as we would have been able to understand most items in Japanese if spoken out loud or have accepted a quick showing of some of the items on offer) and the repeated assertment that this was a bar and not a restaurant. Long story short, despite our politeness, interest and non-intrusive calm, we were evidently considered a hassle from the get-go so we ended up excusing ourselves, presumably to the relief of the owner. An inexplicable, rather disappointing, but luckily rare experience in the months we have spent here. Again, it seemed like a cozy place for locals and we obviously are not judging the actual drinks and food - as much as we would have liked to.

View on GoogleI stopped by because I felt like having a drink. It has the atmosphere of a "neighborhood izakaya" that is truly rooted in the local area, and it's a warm shop loved by regulars. Although it was my first visit, the owner spoke to me in a friendly manner, making it comfortable even for one person, and I had a very good time. Even the appetizer was delicious, and throughout the dishes, the dashi was tasty, showing that they are made with care. I could feel the craftsman's dedication in the home-style flavors, and everything was a taste that warmed my heart. It goes perfectly with alcohol, to the point where I ended up staying for a long time. The interior has a homey and calm atmosphere. It's perfect for stopping by alone on the way home from work or chatting slowly with friends. Thanks to the wonderful owner and the heartwarming food. It was a shop that made me want to visit again.
View on GoogleA neighborhood izakaya with an atmosphere like a midnight diner. I really liked the warm atmosphere where the owner and customers talk naturally. Recommended if you can speak Japanese.
