We visited again after two years, remembering how much we enjoyed it last time with our family. Unfortunately, this time the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. They were out of udon, so we had to modify our Nabeyaki order. The replacement thin noodles were a bit too soft, and both the Nabeyaki soup and the soba dipping sauce tasted quite salty today. For 6,000 yen for two bowls, we expected a bit more balance. It was an okay meal, but for the price, standard chain shops like Fuji Soba offer better value.
View on GoogleBest soba I’ve ever had! The soup is so rich and flavorful. I had the hot duck soba, very tasty. Wife ordered the mushroom. You gotta try it.
View on GoogleIf I could rate 10 out of 10, I will. It's our first meal after we arrived in Ueno. There were so many people flocking in front of before the restaurant opened. As soon as we got in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. They knew that we are an international and might not get used to with the menu. They helped with ordering and explained until how to eat each dish. The quality of ramen was extremely fantastic as well as the tuna sashimi. This is the best sashimi we have tried in Tokyo this time even if in other higher brand restaurant. Cheers! 😊
View on GoogleTasty soba with a rich flavor, though it might be a little too salty for some. A big plus is that they accept travel cards (IC cards/Visa/Mastercard), making it very tourist-friendly.
View on GoogleIs it going to best ramen you will have in your Tokyo trip? Probably not. But is it worth the visit for an experience? Yes. You will most likely be waiting in line. Make sure you buy shokken (食券) / "meal ticket" ahead. The ticket machine is in the front of the store. They will collect your ticket while you are in line. You will also be asked to choose 2 out of 3 toppings.
