On my first visit I ordered ebi fry loin katsu, on my second visit I ordered loin katsu + ham katsu topping. The ham katsu topping is an absolute must-order... the texture and taste are unlike anything I've ever tasted anywhere. It's like "Wow, a topping this good for 350 yen...?", so you have to order it. It's actually a loss if you don't. Even the cheapest loin katsu is this good, so I'm curious about how good the hire, jo-rosu, and tokujo-rosu are. Later, when I have more financial freedom, I'll try the more expensive menus and write another review. The only downside is that it's only open during lunch hours and it's a bit hard to find because it's in an alley, but even considering that, it's a tonkatsu worth visiting... I'd want to eat it every day if I had the money.

First time visiting! Since it's a popular tonkatsu shop in Ueno and it was lunchtime on a weekday, it was very crowded, but the turnover was fast so I could get in right away. The special loin cutlet at Tonkatsu Muneriki in Okachimachi is probably 4 stars. It was previously introduced on the internet as a delicious tonkatsu shop, so I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. It's about 8 minutes east from the north exit of Okachimachi Station. According to prior information, it's near the office district and very crowded at lunch, but since it was Saturday, it seems there weren't many people working, so I got in right away. Inside, there are counter and table seats, and it was quite empty. Since oyster fry is only available until March, I asked and it seems it's not available due to supply issues. From the menu, it seems they specialize in loin, hire, and menchi katsu. In that case, I'll go for the special loin cutlet set meal for 1700 yen. I'll try the best thick-cut loin cutlet at this shop. After waiting 7-8 minutes, it was served as shown in the photo. Wow! Just as rumored, it's an 18-22mm thick loin cutlet with a light pink, juicy color. When you take a bite, the batter is crispy and delicious. The cabbage is sliced a bit thick, and it comes with seaweed miso soup and pickles. It's a standard city tonkatsu shop. Because of rising prices, it's natural that extra rice and cabbage cost extra. Among city tonkatsu shops, F in Ikejiri-Ohashi, Y in Nakanoshima, W in Hiyoshi, and T in Shin-Koiwa were good, but if you want to eat thick-cut loin cutlet and are nearby, this shop is also good.
