My husband and I were exploring Asakusa with our two young kids (ages 3 and 1) and looking for a place to dine. My husband was craving sushi, so we decided to try this restaurant. Because many traditional restaurants in Japan have conventional seating arrangements, he first asked if they allowed young children. The *obachan* (grandmotherly lady) who greeted us was incredibly patient and kind. While we were trying to settle our kids down, she kept reassuring us in Japanese and made us feel completely welcome. Even though the staff speak limited English, their attentiveness and warm gestures truly touched our hearts. It honestly felt like being taken care of by our own grandparents. They also have an English menu, which was very helpful. We ordered a variety of salmon, fatty tuna, miso soup, chawanmushi, and the Nigiri Set (Kiwami). The fatty tuna was absolutely heavenly—I've never tasted anything quite like it anywhere else in Japan. It melted instantly in my mouth, rich and buttery, almost like Wagyu-grade fish. Even as I’m writing this, I can still remember how incredible it tasted. My husband and I will definitely visit this restaurant again the next time we’re in Tokyo. Throughout the meal, the obachan and the sushi chefs kept calling our little ones *kawaii*, and you could truly feel the affection in their eyes. Before we left, the obachan even gave us a stack of socks as a gift. Thank you for such a memorable and heartwarming experience!

🍣 This is honestly my favorite sushi spot in all of Tokyo! If you’re staying near Asakusa and everything else is closed but you still want to have a great time, this is the place to go. Expect to spend around 7000 to 9000 yen, but it’s totally worth it. You’ll enjoy some of the best sushi in Tokyo, even better than what you’ll find in fancy restaurants. The quality, freshness, and flavor are on another level. I really recommend going at night between 1 AM and 8 AM. That’s when the atmosphere is the most fun, and the staff are amazing — truly some of the nicest people you’ll meet. Be polite, chat with them, and ask for their sushi or sake recommendations; they’ll make sure you have a fantastic experience. Every time I’m in Tokyo, I go there almost every day. I miss the staff so much — they’ve become like real friends to me. If you want a memorable late-night sushi experience with great people and incredible food, Tsukiji Sushi Ichiban Nishi-Asakusa is a must-visit!

Amazing food prepared by a master chef and humble hospitality even though no one in my family spoke Japanese. I asked him to prepare an omakase meal for my family of 6 and the food was simply amazing. Fish was superbly fresh, delicious and cost a very reasonable USD $25 per pax. Forget Jiro - come here instead, savor your meal and leave happy!

Nice quality everyday sushi. Arrived around 1:30pm and it wasn’t busy so there was no wait. I got the tuna nigiri plate and an individual portion of the horsemeat nigiri and a uni gunkan - everything was delicious and I walked out satisfied.

500 Yen per seat per person charge - late night sushi joint that opens from 12am to 8am. They give you a lil appy box when you seat to cover the seat charge, and decently fresh sushi for late night options. Clams in broth were a tasty option!
