Nice café located near Ueno Station. Tsubakiya Coffee Ueno Salon is a pleasant place to take a break and enjoy coffee with a sweet pastry. The café is spread over two floors, offering a comfortable space with a classic interior style. The atmosphere is calm, with smooth background music that makes it easy to relax or have a conversation. The patisserie selection is very good and pairs well with their coffee. The café is known for its carefully brewed coffee and traditional kissaten-style ambiance, combining Japanese service with a slightly retro Western café atmosphere. Overall, a nice place in the Ueno area for a coffee and cake break.
View on GoogleChanced upon this quaint vintage coffeehouse right across from Ueno station and closes at 5am! We went for our shopping spree then came back here for a break before heading back hotel. Classy interiors that makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time, and i love their cups and plating! We had the tea/ice coffee + strawberry/black tea cake. The tea cake is slightly on sweet side, but both cake texture is nice and soft, so you wont find it too much. Tea is served in pot and they will ask if you would like milk, lemon slice or just plain. Must try ice coffee just coz of the copper cup it’s served in..hahaha.. but for real their coffee is good so it’s a must order. 🤗 oh btw, they have smoking and non-smoking sections so do note to inform the staff beforehand.
View on GoogleJAN 2026 Came here after dinner and ordered the cake set. This time I went with the strawberry shortcake and the iced coffee. The shortcake was pretty good; sponge was soft and the fresh cream was tasty but would have enjoyed it more if the strawberry was a bit sweeter and less tart. As for the iced coffee, it was smooth and refreshing with a nice bold flavor. The coffee did become milder as the ice melted so I regret not drinking it faster since this coffee tasted better strong. Service was good. NOV 2024 Visited here for a late night dessert and ordered a cake set which includes a drink of your choice. Had the mont blanc cake and their specialty blend coffee which took about 15 minutes for the order to arrive. The mont blanc is a multi layer cake with a tart base, sponge and chestnut cream, topped with chestnut. It was sweeet and tasty, and easy to cut with the soft tart base. Also pairs well with the black coffee which was smooth with a mild medium roast flavor profile. Overall great coffee and cake, staffs were friendly and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing at night when it was not busy.
View on GoogleThe atmosphere is definitely you’d like to visit at first. In addition, they use Royal Copenhagen porcelain to serve, which is also another reason. The salad player is better than expected and hot coffee is nice as well. This cafe is ideal if you want to try some nostalgic vibe and get away from mediocre cafes or chain cafes.
View on GoogleCame in here for a break after exploring the area and ordered two cakes sets - one with coffee and the other with tea. The coffee was smooth and wasn’t acidic at all, the tea was pretty good and came with slices of lemon. Cakes were delish and paired well with the drinks! This cafe does allow smoking though so even though we were seated away from the smoking area, you could definitely still smell whiffs of smoke - but we didn’t mind it too much. The interior is dark and quite cozy - our bill turned out to be around 40AUD total but it was worth the experience in our opinion
