Very good, basic yakiniku food at reasonable price. Small Smokey rooms with friendly atmosphere in a back alley where one does not expect to find eateries.

【Best Korean BBQ restaurant in the oldest Korean town in Tokyo】 Korean Town with the longest history in Tokyo is not Shin-Okubo but Kimchi Yokocho in Highashi Ueno. Tokyo-en is a popular BBQ restaurant in the back alley of Kimchi Yokocho. Not only its good taste but also its high cost performance will make you satisfied.

I was craving delicious yakiniku So I went to 上野 with a friend Instead of the main road We tried exploring a little place on the street behind it 東京苑 The atmosphere looked nice We asked if we could come in, and they had space Recommending horumon with salt That's pretty bold When I tried the premium harami It was the best harami I'd ever had For me, now that karubi is getting a bit too rich The amount of fat was perfect Looking it up afterward It seems this place is also said to be the birthplace of harami That would explain how good it was The loin was tender yet meaty And the liver was fresh without any unpleasant smell The salted heart was incredibly delicious too The sudachi reimen to finish With its gentle flavor and refreshing acidity Was incredibly good A wonderful restaurant That makes me want to return

An acquaintance brought me here a very long time ago. I don't remember the yakiniku, but I remember drinking makgeolli, so I visited. It was our second stop, so we just had a light meal of nibbles, and I didn't drink makgeolli this time. I wanted to check the meat quality, so apart from the horumon, I ordered everything in the standard grade. The salted tongue was tough when grilled, though it did have about 3 concealed scoring cuts. The karubi may have been an end piece; the sinew bothered me. I thought the harami was good even in the standard grade. The liver had been scored to cut the sinews, but there were still a lot. It was disappointing that the assorted horumon only came with sauce seasoning. Overall, it tasted salty, perhaps because the marinade was strong, so I didn't need dipping sauce. It might be just right with plain rice. The senmai sashimi was fresh and delicious. I remember the makgeolli being good, so next time I'd like to come for that. The foreign staff member, a part-timer perhaps?! was working hard, and it felt like a yakiniku place in the old downtown area.
