You can also see Tokyo Tower and the Asahi Beer Tower from this location. It’s a great spot for taking photos without the crowds. There are many spots to sit, work out, or simply relax under the shade of the trees. There’s also a café nearby. Plus, there’s a railway bridge where you can take photos of trains crossing the river.
View on GoogleSumida Park is one of Tokyo’s most scenic riverside parks, stretching along both sides of the Sumida River near the historic Asakusa area. With its open spaces, iconic views, and seasonal beauty, it’s a favorite spot for both locals and tourists looking to relax while enjoying a classic Tokyo atmosphere. One of the park’s biggest highlights is its incredible view of Tokyo Skytree, which rises prominently in the background. The contrast between the modern tower and the traditional surroundings of Asakusa creates a uniquely photogenic scene, especially during sunset and nighttime when the lights reflect beautifully on the river. Sumida Park is particularly famous for its cherry blossoms. During sakura season, hundreds of cherry trees bloom along the riverbanks, forming a picturesque tunnel of pink. It’s one of the best hanami (flower viewing) spots in Tokyo, attracting large crowds who come to picnic under the blossoms and enjoy the festive atmosphere. The combination of sakura, river views, and Tokyo Skytree makes it one of the most iconic spring scenes in the city. Beyond cherry blossom season, the park remains a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Asakusa. Wide walking paths make it ideal for strolling, jogging, or simply sitting and enjoying the river breeze. You’ll often see locals fishing, couples relaxing, and street performers adding a bit of life to the area. Another highlight is its role during the Sumida River Fireworks Festival, one of Tokyo’s most famous summer events. The park becomes a prime viewing location for spectacular fireworks displays, creating an energetic and festive environment. Overall, Sumida Park offers a perfect balance of nature, culture, and city views. Whether you visit during cherry blossom season, a summer festival, or a quiet afternoon, it’s a beautiful and accessible spot that captures the charm of Tokyo from a riverside perspective.
View on Googlea lovely spot not too far from Senso-ji—perfect when you need a breather away from the crowds. After the busy atmosphere around Asakusa, the park feels calm, open, and refreshing. It’s a great place to slow down, take a walk, and just enjoy a quieter side of the area. Simple, peaceful, and definitely worth stopping by if you’re exploring nearby.
View on GoogleGreat park to chill just 2 blocks away from Senso-Ji temple. Great view of the river and Tokyo Skytree across the river. Its quiet and not particularly crowded. Ample space for runs or easy stroll along the river banks. Love this park
View on GoogleThe parks contains over 500 cherry blossoms trees. The east side promenade is breath taking day and especially at night, with Tokyo Skytree in the background. We visited early April and surprisingly it was not overcrowded.
