I went there with a friend after a long time. I am glad that there are more days I can go there now that there is a store under Yushima Tenjin. However, I feel the quality of the meat has dropped compared to before. I was very disappointed when I was served beef tongue with a pool of blood. I have been to TANKIYO many times, but this was the first time for me. In total, however, I can say that TANKIYO is a very good yakiniku restaurant near Akihabara.
View on GoogleI made a reservation for 19:30 on a weekday. When I arrived around 19:25 there were people waiting at the entrance, but the system is that you wait outside, and when your reservation time comes, a staff member calls you in order and shows you to your table. I ordered the recommended set and at first thought it might not be enough, but I was surprised that the portion was actually large. It was delicious too, and I'd like to go again.
View on GoogleThe tan shio (salted tongue), liver, and miso tongue were especially delicious, and all were very satisfying. The grilled banana dessert was also tasty, so we enjoyed it right to the end. They changed the grill net and added charcoal frequently, and I could feel their attentive care. It's a place that makes me want to go back.
View on GoogleThe Jo Shio Tan (premium salted tongue) is the best. The Negi Shio Tan and Tanshita have strong sauce flavors, so if you want to taste the meat itself, the salt version is recommended. The shop tends to echo, so during busy hours it can be a bit tiring to hold a conversation.
View on GoogleWhen it comes to yakiniku in Yushima, it's Tankiyo! It's easier to book than the Akihabara branch, but it's a popular place that's lively even on weekday nights. Led by the famous Jo Tan Shio-yaki (premium grilled salted tongue) 2,990 yen, we ordered Jo Harami 1,600 yen Jo Rosu 1,600 yen Jo Liver 900 yen. The signature tongue is thick yet super tender. With every bite the umami spreads — I was moved; it truly deserves to be the signature dish. The harami and rosu are juicy too, with the charcoal aroma really bringing them out. The liver has zero gaminess and a melt-in-your-mouth texture — a pleasant surprise to find such a high level at a yakiniku place. The interior is clean, the tables are spacious, and it's comfortable ◎ Plus, the drink menu is really extensive, with lots of drinks that go well with yakiniku, which is a big plus. For anyone who wants to "eat good meat to their heart's content" or is "looking for a place serious about tongue," this is a spot I can definitely recommend.
