① Restaurant Features A standing soba shop located in a retro underground shopping arcade right outside the ticket gates of Asakusa Station on the Ginza Subway Line. You can enjoy soba while soaking in the nostalgic atmosphere. ② Food Review ◎ Kakiage Soba Warm soba tastes especially delicious in the winter cold. When the kakiage tempura melts into the broth, it creates an exquisite soup. The soba noodles are carefully prepared: freshly boiled, chilled in cold water, then reheated, making them delicious.
View on GoogleThis place is exactly what I’m looking for when I travel and want to experience of a city’s food. This is a simple old school place that feels like it’s a fading artifact from another time. The menu is simple; the concept is simple. You put coins or cash (no cards it seems) into a Japanese-only machine, it prints a ticket, and you give it to one of the old guy cooks to make your food. Counter service. Hot or cold soba noodles. These guys look like they’ve been here 1000 years and they probably have because it’s reliable, simple, humble food for people who need a quick meal as they move from one place to another. You can and should judge it from its appearance, but it’s time to get out of your comfort zone.
View on GoogleI passed by on a Monday around 7:00am. I thought it’d be packed full of salarymen but I guess the rush hadn’t started yet. This place is right at the entrance of the Asakusa Underground District. It’s got a unique rustic charm to it. You can tell this noodle shop has served countless numbers of hungry salarymen, students, and travelers. The soba has served within minutes and the vegetable kakiage was delicious. It was definitely worth the 500 yen price.
View on GoogleKept walking by this place; other people I was with weren't having it. One morning, I went and the experience in itself was fascinating. My Japanese is almost non-existent and kudos to the chef as he guided me and helped me order my noodles which were delicious. Arigato gozimasu to the cook/chef.
