I'm glad to have visited this hidden gem of a café, located just a stone's throw away from Asakusa Station. The soy protein in the vegan yakitori burger was juicy and succulent. The mont blanc was a delightful sweet treat that melted in my mouth. I arrived shortly after the café opened for business on a Sunday, and service was efficient. The atmosphere was quiet and calming. I highly recommend this place if you are vegan, vegetarian, or passing through Asakusa.
View on GoogleSmall cafe with a completely vegan menu. I ordered two cakes and a slice of pizza. It was ok, but the slices were incredibly small for the price. The pizza dough was thawed and had a chewy texture. The flavor of the pizza itself wasn't anything special, and I wouldn't order it again. I think they need to work more on developing a higher-quality pizza. I don't understand why they list the price before taxes. If I have to pay more in the end, they should show me the real price. I don't get it; it feels like a bit of a visual deception, and then when you pay, boom, surprise! The staff was friendly, there's Wi-Fi available, and you can pay by card.
View on GoogleAn amazing vegan eatery - so many choices (baked goods/pastries, savoury foods, drinks), friendly staff, cosy atmosphere…highly recommend visiting! I had the yu-ba tamago burger (PHENOMENAL, genuinely so delicious), Mont Blanc cake, and Uji matcha latte. Everything was great and I’ll be coming back! In case I didn’t make it clear, the burger is a MUST-TRY; I’ll be returning just for it 😋 Update: I came back today - tried the yakitori burger and rainbow cake, too. All very yum!
View on GoogleWe randomly found this cafe because a family member needed to sit and rest for a bit and this place just happened to be nearby, and when we saw they had matcha lattes we figured why not since we drink matcha all the time. It is fully vegan which was interesting, and honestly we did not go in with high expectations, but it ended up being pretty decent. It is not some super high end ceremonial level matcha and it is clearly not trying to be, but the flavor was solid enough, slightly grassy with a more noticeable sweetness that probably comes from the sweetener, and they use oat milk by default which makes sense for a vegan spot. The cafe itself is cute and has personality, and the menu was kind of fun with things like pizza and even a rainbow cake. The matcha was satisfactory, not mind blowing, not bad, just a good enough cup if you happen to be there. Would I go out of my way to come back for it, probably not, but were we disappointed, not at all.
View on GoogleI stopped by Shochikuen Café for a quick vegan bite before heading to Sensō-ji Temple, and it definitely has some charms. The location is easy to find and convenient if you’re already exploring Asakusa. The shop itself is quite small, but the atmosphere is friendly, and the staff were genuinely cute and welcoming. A definite plus: they have a bathroom available, which is always appreciated when you’re sightseeing. Food-wise, my experience was mixed. I grabbed a vegan pizza slice, but it was very small, and unfortunately the crust was still a bit frozen. It was firm enough that it actually aggravated my TMJ a little, not what you want from a quick snack. I also tried the rainbow cake. It looked lovely and colorful, but the taste didn’t quite live up to the presentation; the cake itself was dry, and the cream, while fluffy, was mostly just sugar and air. I also found it a bit on the pricey side. Overall, Shochikuen Café is cute and convenient with kind staff, but the vegan options I tried felt more like style over substance. It works for a quick stop, but I’d love to see the food quality improved to match the charm of the place.
