View on GoogleVisited for the first time in 3 years. The same old menu at the same old neighborhood Chinese restaurant, but price increases are inevitable. Their signature tantanmen is a legacy of Showa tantanmen, unchanged since the shop opened in 1986! The thin, watery sesame-spicy soup is quite spicy, with a distinctive taste and quality very different from modern tantanmen! The vegetable tantanmen I had this time had a lighter soup, but the vegetables were crisp. The thin noodles always being soft is also a remnant of Showa. The fried rice is a simple egg fried rice, relatively oily and also lightly seasoned. The meaty shumai are very filling and delicious! The shop is called 四川ハウス, but my impression is that it doesn't particularly specialize in Sichuan cuisine. Rather than an old-fashioned, nostalgic neighborhood Chinese place, I gather it's a Chinese restaurant that has been fairly distinctive since long ago.
