I was disappointed to know this Shiki-an was closed for one month after lots of walking. But it was better than nothing. I got some photos and free brochure.

View on GoogleVisited around midday, May 4, 2026 A building recreating Shiki-an, where Masaoka Shiki lived, north of Uguisudani Station and north of Kototoi-dori That day I came here by share bike from Uguisudani Station I came to see it together with the Japan Calligraphy Museum across the street, but this place was on its lunch break, so I visited the calligraphy museum first and then came in here The building is small but there were a fair number of people, and I looked around the building and exhibits while glancing at the video playing in the tokonoma alcove Shiki's six-shaku sickroom had a great feel too, and the staff happily took a commemorative photo for us, which made me really happy The garden was lovely too, and I enjoyed looking at the flowers and the building in the early summer weather
View on GoogleFrom Uguisudani Station, I made my way through the maze-like love hotel district to Shiki-an. You can clearly tell the house and garden are well cared for. Looking at the lush early-summer garden, I recalled the writing of "Byosho Rokushaku" and scenes from the drama "Saka no Ue no Kumo" came back to me. On the way back I headed toward Nippori and took a relaxing break with Habutae Dango.
