The best pork fried rice I’ve ever had. The pork was juicy and the rice was well seasoned it tasted amazing. But I am an American so the food we have in the USA isn’t as good.

View on GoogleAt “Sentanbo” in Akihabara, I had the “hiyashi tantanmen” I'd been looking forward to. The bowl arrived looking beautiful and refreshing. The first sip of broth was pleasantly cold, with an impressively crisp, clean sensation going down. But it wasn't simply spicy: beneath the refreshing broth, the deep richness of sesame and the vivid sharpness of homemade chili oil followed in exquisite balance. These waves of “richness and sharpness” thoroughly coated the chewy noodles, letting me enjoy the depth of flavor with every successive bite. Truly a superb, meticulously crafted hiyashi tantanmen, delivering a pleasant kick to a body heated by the hot season. It was a wonderful creation that made me want to savor every last drop of broth. It was absolutely delicious. I'll visit again!

The tables for 4 are partitioned with roller blinds, so it feels quite cramped when you're boxed in by the walls. The broth isn't particularly rich in sesame; it's thin and slightly sour. There's not much heat from the sansho or chili either, so it's easy to eat. Some people might find it lacking. It comes with a small serving of rice. There isn't much miso-seasoned minced meat, so it's difficult to do something like spoon it over the rice after finishing the noodles. I wonder if the mapo tofu is the popular dish. Thank you for the meal!
View on GooglePersonally, I think the gyoza, mapo tofu, and tantanmen are the best in Tokyo. Every dish is prepared with great care and tastes delicious. And yet it's inexpensive! Are they making a profit? Are they doing okay? It makes me worry. I'm not fond of Shaoxing wine, but their house Shaoxing wine is very delicious. As for the aged wine, I'd even recommend it over mediocre whisky or rum.
