櫻田Sakurada Edo Cuisine
For Asakusa gourmet, there's 『Sakurada』 on Asakusa Kaminarimon-dori. In search of the finest game: to serve game (gibier) cuisine, we traveled all over Japan looking for ingredients. Owner Katsuhiko Sakurada personally visited producers and suppliers, met them, and gained their cooperation. We have also recreated Edo cuisine eaten during the Edo period based on historical documents! Edo cuisine. A restaurant where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled dishes gathered around an irori hearth.

This is a small, family-run Japanese restaurant managed by an elderly lady. Although it is located near Kaminarimon in Asakusa, the atmosphere inside feels calm and relaxing. They offer a sukiyaki lunch set for 2,000 yen per person. The quality of the beef was very good, and the seasoning was well-balanced. It seemed to be Kanto-style sukiyaki, and even the rice was cooked really well. If you’re visiting Asakusa and looking for a reasonably priced Japanese lunch, this restaurant is a very good choice.

What made it truly memorable was the sweet elderly lady who serves the restaurant all by herself, her warmth and care make the experience feel personal and heartwarming. The dishes are classic and comforting, full of traditional flavors, perfect for anyone wanting a taste of old Tokyo. A very unique and charming spot in Asakusa, highly recommended for those looking for an authentic, cozy experience.🥘✨
View on GoogleA very unique traditional dining experience in Asakusa. At Sakurada, you sit around a traditional irori hearth and grill seafood, game, and seasonal vegetables over charcoal. The sound of the fire, the aroma from the grill, and the wooden Edo-style interior make it feel like stepping back in time. At the end of the meal, you can even light Japanese sparklers using the irori fire, which adds a special touch to the experience. A memorable way to enjoy Japanese food culture with all five senses.
View on GoogleWe were incredibly lucky to stumble upon Sakurada and an unforgettable opportunity to dine at this authentic and unique restaurant. The atmosphere is unlike anywhere else: diners sit around an open hearth, enjoying char-grilled dishes. This is not a place for flashy plating or trendy flavors — instead, it offers a rare glimpse into traditional Edo-style cuisine in a truly historic setting. The charm of Sakurada lies in its simplicity and warmth. The taste may be unfamiliar to modern palates, but that’s exactly what makes the experience so special. You’re not just eating dinner — you’re stepping back in time. We were even fortunate enough to meet the owner who is still actively working in the restaurant. His presence, along with the incredibly friendly staff, added a personal and memorable touch to our visit
View on GoogleSimply an amazing experience. The restaurant feels like you are stepping into the Edo period, with in-table charcoal grills and a wide variety of meats that are more adventurous than the default wagyu available in most Japanese barbeques. Some options are deer, wild boar, and blackthroat seaperch. The wait staff were polite and accommodating, providing a simply wonderful atmosphere.
