Warm bi-level counter-serve restaurant doling out Chinese fare like soups & fried dumplings.

老酒舗 is a cozy spot in Ueno known for its rich selection of aged Chinese wines and traditional dishes. The atmosphere is warm and slightly nostalgic, making it a comfortable place for small gatherings or quiet drinks. The food pairs well with the drinks, especially braised and savory items. Service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Prices are reasonable for the quality offered. It may not be very spacious, but that adds to its intimate charm and relaxed dining experience.

An unexpected local feel at a 'Chinese pub'. My friend and I chanced upon this place while walking around Okachimachi and decided to give it a shot. It was crowded and we were ushered to the upper floor. The food is Chinese and the staff also speak Mandarin; this may be helpful in case you struggle with Japanese like we did. Having said that, the customers all appeared to be locals. We ordered a few dishes and they were tasty though not fantastic. The skin of the dumpling was overly thick, but the rest were alright. Drinks are cheap but I learnt they don't serve hot sake in the day time. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and it's worth a visit. Just keep your expectations in check and enjoy the cheap alcohol.

Nice food the only thing I don’t like is the menu very hard to read and order and I hope they can come out with a photographic food menu for fast order and people can see what is the portion of the food and how is it like when people are new to the shop people want to try the food. Going through the menu can’t really tell how is like.

The food at this restaurant is okay, but the service is really annoying. There was a waitress—probably the owner, I guess—who could speak Chinese just like us. Every time she saw that we had finished our food or drinks, she couldn’t wait to take everything away and kept asking if we wanted to order more. I get it—the place is small, and they want a high table turnover. But at the table next to us, a group of Japanese customers who arrived earlier and ordered less didn’t get a single word from her. She might as well have had “rushing us out” and “double standards” written all over her face. 🙄
