It provides bread with butter and egg, I like such a classic light breakfast, feel like eating ah home . And already feel relax watching the lady making coffee by Syphon style. Recommend if you staying in Ueno.

So homely - simple breakfast, soft background music, the kind of place that slows everything down. My laptop was definitely sticking out, everyone else was just chatting quietly with the owner or reading the newspaper.

Rokuyokan is a charming kissaten that transports you to a bygone era with its nostalgic ambiance and warm, inviting service. Stepping into this quaint café feels like entering a cozy retreat where classic Japanese-style Western fare meets traditional hospitality. The experience began with a light bowl of wakame soup, a simple yet flavorful start that gently prepared the palate for the delightful dishes to follow. The highlight of the meal was the signature Napolitan spaghetti—a beloved Japanese twist on the Italian classic. The noodles were perfectly al dente, generously coated in a subtly sweet, rich tomato sauce that carried hints of herbs and the natural savoriness of sautéed onions and bell peppers. Each bite of the dish, accented by tender slices of ham, evoked comforting memories of home-cooked meals. To complement the food, a robust cup of black coffee was served in an elegantly designed cup and saucer. Its well-balanced bitterness provided the ideal counterpoint to the savory flavors of the dish. Rokuyokan is more than just a café; it’s a nostalgic journey into Japan’s yoshoku culture, making it an ideal destination for those seeking both comfort food and a memorable, retro dining experience.

Found this kissaten for early morning breakfast in the Ueno area and it is just around the corner off the busy main road The “morning service” is simple, no-frill but is definitely way above the quality of many chain stores that comes with a great drink (I had a very aromatic tea) and toast/egg etc. The lady, who has been running the store for 40+ years, speaks simple English and was friendly to us from abroad. We found the vibe particularly nostalgic and stayed there for an hour enjoying a relaxing time

Don't be afraid to come here if you only speak English! Grandma understands and though she answers you in Japanese mainly we had no problems ordering. Front half is non smoke but since it's an open restaurant you can still smell smoke (just a note for people with sensitive nose! 👃) We had a breakfast set. Type A is ham/toast/egg. Type B is toast/egg. Only half a cold boiled egg, with your choice of tea or coffee (various kind). You pay standard fee for your drink and it's only an extra ¥200 for Set B. (My cafe au lait was ¥500). We had ukelele lounge music.
