This place is such a hidden gem that I hesitated on leaving this review for fear of tourists ruining a really good thing. This is not for everyone, but perfect for those who appreciate the small places that give “midnight diner” vibes. No English menu, only 1 man running the whole show, and he doesn’t speak a lick of English, so some level of competency is recommended to ensure it’s an easy experience. Small set lunch menu with about 5 options ranging between 1100-1500¥ for the sashimi set. The fried oysters were also delicious and the beer is ice cold. Pretty traditional style hole in the wall, so expect tatami seating, and smoking is allowed inside. We loved it and thought it was incredible value and an authentic experience for such a busy tourist area. Not recommended for anyone in a rush.

It feels like an incredible find within the touristy area. We ate the chef’s choice sashimi, and it was amazing. Hidden gem, can’t recommend enough.

Came here for an early lunch. This is a hidden gem. The chef’s sashimi selection was amazing especially for the price. The owner is very friendly!

I found a izakaya with a great vibe in Asakusa. 「十味小野屋」. About a 5-minute walk from Asakusa Station. Look for the pale green noren curtain. Inside there's tatami seating and a counter, and the regulars were enjoying their drinks. While toasting with sake, the otoshi was a lineup of things perfect to go with the drinks. Sanma sashimi. Nice and fatty, so good~. I enjoyed every bit, right down to the bones. Shirayaki anago (white-grilled conger eel). Super fluffy texture. Dashimaki tamago soaked through with dashi. To finish, I had ochazuke. The gentle dashi was so comforting. A characterful izakaya with a somehow nostalgic atmosphere where you can quietly enjoy fresh fish and sake. Thank you for the meal!
