I visited a long-established monjayaki shop in Asakusa. Besides monja, the menu has a wide variety, including seafood teppanyaki and okonomiyaki, and the taste itself was good overall. The shop is run single-handedly by an elderly woman, and the style is basically that you eat following her rules and her way of doing things. I think regulars, or people who go understanding that kind of atmosphere, will enjoy it, but some people going for the first time without knowing anything might be a little surprised. Also, the interior gives an old-fashioned impression, and in terms of cleanliness there were some parts that bothered me a bit. I felt that if the griddle were maintained a little better, I could eat with more peace of mind. I think it suits people who can enjoy the shop's character and rules, and people who like the atmosphere of a long-established shop.
View on GoogleAn old-fashioned okonomiyaki and monjayaki shop run by the proprietress all on her own. The taste is very good, and I'd like to visit again.
View on GoogleA cozy little place with a strong Showa-era feel inside, run by a mother on her own. The okonomiyaki is a bit on the small side, but it has a refined, lovely flavor.

The mother running the shop is brisk and pleasant. As the reviews say, the equipment is well-worn and not clean, but my personal opinion is that stuff like that should be seen as 'character'~
