Nostalgic little eatery tuck away from the busy heart of Taito, Tokyo. Never fail to feel warm welcome despite of language barrier. After several repeat visits, the owner remember his customers. Reasonable price tag. Korean BBQ place.
View on GoogleA nice family type Yakiniku Restaurant in Ueno. The place is old and has been visited by many celebrities in Japan.

View on Google[Menu Ordered] ・Geta Shio (salted beef rib) ・Tan Shio (salted beef tongue) ・Jo-mino (top-quality beef tripe) ・Shima-cho (beef large intestine) ・Kimchi (ordered for takeout as well) ・Rice, etc. [Taste & Value] The meat cuts were a bit uneven, but the thicker pieces were well-cut and easy to grill on the roaster. However, the saltiness of the meat and the richness of the sauce felt a bit lacking, so there were parts regarding the seasoning that made me tilt my head in doubt. On the other hand, the kimchi was quite spicy and delicious, making the white rice go down easily! I really liked it and was happy that I could take it home. [Service & Atmosphere] The interior is filled with smoke from old-fashioned roasters, creating a fantastic "Showa retro" atmosphere typical of popular yakiniku joints. However, regarding service, when I was made to wait for about 10 minutes because they were "cleaning up," the elderly staff member's response felt a bit blunt, which was a shame as it made me feel a bit anxious before even entering. *Grill mesh replacement is charged [Recommendation Rating] ★★★☆☆ There might be personal preferences regarding the sauce and service, but for those who want to experience the old-fashioned yakiniku atmosphere in a smoky, Showa-retro space, this place might be a hit. The spicy kimchi is especially recommended.
View on GoogleDecember 2025. I stopped by after going to the National Museum of Western Art to see the Impressionist exhibition owned by the Musée d'Orsay. Since it was a weekday before noon, it was empty at first, but because there are few seats, it quickly filled up. On this day, I ordered the lunch menu Harami Kachi-mori (300g) for 3,000 yen and a beer, totaling 3,500 yen. The quality of the Harami meat was tender with just the right amount of elasticity, and the seasoning was to my liking; it was very delicious. The namul and nori no tsukudani (simmered seaweed) that came with it were also tasty. It was a wonderful yakiniku restaurant with a lovely downtown vibe, where the elderly staff were kind and full of human warmth!
