コーラ 浅草店(KO-LA)Koora Asakusa Mise KO-LA
About 1 minute on foot from Tsukuba Express "Asakusa Station", about 7 minutes on foot from Ginza Line "Tawaramachi Station", about 9 minutes on foot from the Asakusa Line. KO-LA (Kola) from Ebisu, famous for its gamjatang, has landed in Asakusa! Korean food that's hugely popular in Korea too! "Gamjatang" is a Korean street-stall dish of pork backbone, chunky potatoes, and plenty of vegetables simmered in a rich pork bone broth. The punchy soup, seasoned with chili, garlic, perilla, and more, is superb!! Samgyeopsal using thick-cut pork belly from KO-LA's carefully selected "certified Yamagata pork" is all-you-can-eat for a limited time!!

View on GoogleI visited the Asakusa location because of Saraba Seishun no Hikari's YouTube. The restaurant is on an upper floor of the Don Quijote building, but you need to take a dedicated elevator to get to the upper floors, so it's a little hard to find. Perhaps partly because of that, there were few customers even though it was during GW (Golden Week). Also, there seemed to be few staff for the capacity, but since you can order from a tablet, it wasn't really a problem. As for the food, which is what matters, everything was delicious. In particular, the signature gamjatang hot pot had tender meat on the pork backbones, and the shungiku and potatoes soaked with soup were very tasty too. I didn't find it that spicy. I ordered the S size, but it was packed with shungiku and potatoes and quite voluminous, so be careful not to order too many side dishes. *Due to overtourism, every place around Senso-ji has a line, so I recommend this as a hidden gem.
View on GoogleAfter Stamina Taro moved out, a popular Korean street-food restaurant from Ebisu and Ikejiri opened in Asakusa, so I went. I had the shop's top recommendation, the gamjatang hot pot S ¥1800 (excluding tax). When it came out I was overwhelmed by the volume, but what was in it was a huge amount of pork backbones with almost no meat on them. Even if flavor comes out of the bones, wouldn't it be better to call this a vegetable hot pot 🍲⁉️. I drank the ¥100 highball from the campaign running through the end of the year and left.
View on GoogleThe tteokbokki is the soft and chewy, not-so-spicy type, and it's decently tasty. The salad arrived about 1 minute after ordering. Personally, I found the chijimi so-so.
