This tea ceremony was one of the best experiences and memories for all of our Japan trip. We actually arrived a few minutes late, but the receptionist was very kind and ensured that we don’t rush and allowed us to join the next session. They also upgraded us to a private session since they had some additional openings. The entire staff were very polite, well spoken in English and very knowledgeable. They guided us very step of the way, without making us feel lost or embarrassed. Especially during the session, our tea host Chako was very polite and kind. She understood that we had young kids and made accommodations for the kids to enjoy the time. It was about 45 minutes, but the entire time was very informative and knowledgeable about the Japanese culture. They also did not rush us during the photoshoot and had ample time to use props and different poses. I highly recommend this place for any first time visitors to Japan, especially if you are visiting as a family.

Dōmo arigatō gozaimashita, Wakana! You gave us an unforgettable tea ceremony. You explained the rich history of tea culture in such a memorable way that it came to life. To enter the tea house, a samurai had to bow low, leave his swords behind, and step into a place where peace mattered more than power. Wakana made that history come alive. She explained every detail with such warmth, humor, and passion that I wasn’t just listening, I was transported. Watching her whisk the matcha into a vibrant green froth and present it with such precise, graceful movements was mesmerizing. Every gesture, from the careful turn of the bowl to the elegant placement of the ladle, felt intentional. I truly felt like royalty. I even left confident I could make a frothy matcha with a proper bubble slurp for my own guests! A standing ovation to all the ladies who helped us into our kimonos. They were incredibly patient while I braided and bunned my locs, helped me accessorize, and truly made me feel like a princess. Traveling solo, I especially appreciated that Wakana took beautiful photos of me on the patio so I’d have lasting memories of such a special day. Her lighthearted humor and warm personality made the room feel so welcoming. This experience will stay with me for a very long time, and anyone who asks me what they should do in Japan will hear one answer from me: Kimono Tea Ceremony MAIKOYA Nishiki Asakusa.

I had a great time at MAIKOYA’s wagashi making and kimono tea ceremony experience in Asakusa. Although the workshop itself was a little shorter than I expected, it never felt rushed. The instructor guided us through each step at a comfortable pace, so we had plenty of time to enjoy making our own wagashi before sitting down to eat it while sipping a bowl of matcha. One thing I really appreciated was that the experience didn’t end as soon as the workshop finished. After changing into our kimonos, we were given plenty of free time to walk around the beautiful streets of Asakusa, take photos, and enjoy the traditional atmosphere at our own pace. It made the whole experience feel much more immersive than just attending a short class. Overall, it was a wonderful introduction to Japanese culture. If you’re visiting Japan for the first time, especially with friends or family, I think this is a fun and memorable experience that’s well worth trying.

We had a wonderful Maiko kimono rental and tea ceremony experience in Asakusa. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, patient, and attentive. They helped us choose beautiful kimono combinations and carefully styled everything, including the obi and hair accessories, making us feel truly elegant and comfortable. The maiko transformation was special — it felt authentic yet approachable for beginners. Even though it was our first time, the team explained every step clearly and made us feel relaxed throughout the process. The tea ceremony was calm and beautifully conducted. The host explained the meaning behind each movement and utensil, which helped us appreciate the cultural depth of the experience. It wasn’t rushed at all — we could truly enjoy the atmosphere. The location in Asakusa made it even more magical, as we could walk around near Senso-ji afterward in full kimono. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo who wants a meaningful and memorable cultural activity!
