A long-established Japanese sweets shop right near Sensoji Temple. The interior retains its Showa-era atmosphere just as it was, so it's good for when you want a quiet break in between sightseeing. However, the stairs up to the seating area are quite steep, so it may be a bit tough for elderly people or those carrying large luggage. I ordered the matcha and ningyo-yaki set, and the tea's pleasant bitterness goes well with the sweet ningyo-yaki. There are lots of street-food shops in Asakusa, but places where you can sit down and leisurely drink tea are precious. When I went on a weekday a little after 15:00, it was empty and I got in smoothly. I recommend stopping by when you're tired of the bustle of Nakamise Street.

I bought a koshian ningyo-yaki for 170 yen including tax. Is it shaped like Hotei-sama's face? Sweet batter filled with sweet chunky red bean paste, it was delicious.

View on GoogleMy grandfather, my mother, and I were looking for dessert after our meal when we found this place and dropped in. After climbing a slightly steep staircase to the 2nd floor, you enter a café with a calm atmosphere filled with cool air. It was lunchtime and other cafés were very crowded, but this place was very empty, so I recommend it for people who want to spend some quiet time. By the way, it's non-smoking and the restrooms are separate for men and women.

The interior has a charm that feels like it's been there since long ago, and from the window seats you can look out over Kaminarimon and the bustling streets. You can enjoy things like "oshiruko" and "tokoroten" regardless of the season. It's really relaxing inside, so it's my favorite café.
