May. 2026 🗺️🔍 About a 3minute walk from the Shinobazuguchi Exit of JR Ueno Station. Arrived around 5:00 PM. The wait time was about 2 minutes. (About 30 minutes later, when I finished eating and left the shop, there was a line of around 10 people.) 🍚Katsu curry ¥750 Fukujinzuke (pickled vegetables) and rakkyo (pickled shallots) are complimentary. The curry sauce is light and smooth, with a Western-style flavor. The portion size is slightly on the smaller side. The place has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. There are even photos from when the shop first opened displayed inside, giving a sense of its long history. Note: Payment is by cash only, using a ticket vending machine system.
View on GoogleOld school curry restaurant. 700 yen a bowl. Pay with cash at the vending machine. Very tasty curry. Cutlet breading was crunchy and flavorful. Service was very good.
View on GoogleI found a facebook review about curry restaurant that has been open since 1973 in Ueno area. When I arrived at the restaurant around 11 a.m., it was already full, but wait for a table wasn’t long. I ordered curry rice with hamburger steak. Curry sauce was smooth and beautifully made, with a salty and slightly sour taste that wasn’t heavy, making it easy to keep eating. Rice was perfectly cooked. This's a great choice for a quick meal when you’re in hurry.
View on GoogleIs my favorite Curry in Ueno (close to Ameyoko), I know this Curry shop at least 20 years. The price is not bad and they only have one type of curry roux. Variety of topping is very limited too, but I like the thin crispy pork cutlet. I recommend, besides variety of topping and roux the CoCo Ichibanya chain is unbeatable... their price is more expensive. On Crown Ace, 500 yen or less is enough to have the chance to eat their tasty and old fashioned curry.
View on GoogleFantastic old school curry shop. If you are looking for a nostalgic dinning experience then look no further. The curry is decent and incredibly cheap. No English menu, but there is a ticket machine.
