If you find yourself wandering the streets of Asakusa, Asakusa Chaya Tabanenoshi is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth and a love for matcha. Known for their artistic "Kakehashi" crepes, this spot perfectly balances traditional Japanese flavors with a modern dessert twist. The matcha is rich and authentic, offering that signature earthy bitterness that cuts through the creamy, sweet fillings beautifully. Beyond the taste, the presentation is stunning. Each crepe is wrapped elegantly, often adorned with a traditional mizuhiki knot, making it as much a feast for your eyes as it is for your palate. It’s the perfect handheld treat to enjoy while soaking in the historic atmosphere of the area.

Delicious matcha tiramisu and matcha latte! Both were rich, smooth, and full of authentic green tea flavour. A must-visit for any matcha lover. Wish the latte is sugar-free, otherwise it would be perfect! Highly recommended!

Honestly, this crêpe is more beautiful than it is tasty, but somehow I still really want another one 😄 It's almost too pretty to eat, a proper little work of art right near Ginkaku-ji. Worth it for the looks and the experience, even if the flavor doesn't quite match.

The taste wasn’t as good as it looks—quite bland overall. The matcha crepe itself had almost no matcha aroma or flavor, and the cream was fairly ordinary; you can easily find better at many other crepe cafés. But if anyone still wants to try it, the queue wasn’t too bad—about 30 minutes on a Saturday afternoon.

This is the most amazing matcha crepe shop. The crepe dough is soft and smells very good. The cream is delicious and not too sweet. The shop is small and has only a few seats, but the staff are very kind and friendly. If you have a chance, I really want you to try it. Thinking about it makes me hungry again.
