Beautiful building. I arrived just as it closed so didn’t have much time, but will be going back. You need to take your shoes off and carry them in a bath as you go around. There is a set route to follow. Photos can only be taken on specific spots. The building is lovely, in the studio room there is a mechanical lift under the big statue. There are leaflets in several languages and labels are bilingual. The outside is being painted and roof top garden closed as of writing, staff said they expect it to be closed until February. Not wheelchair accessible
View on GoogleStunning house museum with inner Japanese garden and pond. Sculptures were mediocre. Taking pictures is strictly forbidden, which doesn’t make sense at all. I found the blue mat extremely patronizing.
View on GoogleStumbled upon this but it was a wonderful museum, friendly staff and English speaking tour guides. I would label it was more of an architecture museum/tour. But the property was beautiful. Some of our party stayed for multiple hours. Lots to see!
View on GoogleThis museum and the house it's situated in were beautiful. The inner courtyard and the rooftop are so serene. One member of the staff spent a really long time telling me about the history of the house and the works. I really enjoyed my visit!
View on GoogleI really loved this place. It really was an impressive house that included his studio & school which is now a museum. The details really reflected Asakura Fumio's passions in life. The Garden was really beautiful. I love how he designed the rooms to be facing the garden & the pond. The Studio was impressive as well. We got to see the very popular Grave Keeper sculpture. Loved the rooftop as well. Such a beautiful house. Before visiting this place make sure to wear socks since you will be removing your shoes to enter inside. There's a bag at the entrance for your shoes which you will carry with you. Photographs are only allowed in the orchid room & on a round mat with a sign on it in 2 areas (studio & sunrise room). Would also like to thank the volunteer guide who educated us about the sculptures inside. Such a lovely museum.
