For authentic Chinese cuisine in Ueno-Hirokoji and Yushima, visit “味坊鉄鍋荘(アジボウテツナベソウ).” A 3-minute walk from Yushima Station, this restaurant in Ueno-Hirokoji specializes in regional cuisine from northeastern China. Many guests visit to enjoy Chinese food, northeastern Chinese cuisine, lamb dishes, iron-pot dishes, and wine in Ueno. Authentic stews finished in large iron pots embedded in the restaurant's tables are our distinctive specialty, faithfully recreating the home-style flavors of northeastern China. We offer iron-pot dishes in which lamb, pork spare ribs, whole seasonal white fish with heads and tails, and other ingredients are slowly simmered with dried vegetables, fermented napa cabbage, takana mustard greens, and more. Deep flavors infused with the ingredients' savory goodness…

Regional food from the Harbin province. Their sour pickled cabbage hot pot is very popular. Huge portions too.

A night of traveling to northeastern China in Ueno. A one-of-a-kind destination for truly authentic Chinese food, warming you from within with vegetables from its own farm and traditional iron-pot dishes” I found a restaurant where you can enjoy the original flavors of rustic, hearty traditional iron-pot stews passed down through generations in northeastern China! Since opening in 2016, this restaurant has continued to recreate China's real flavors. Everything, including the tables and floors, is handmade. Its appealing atmosphere gives Chinese guests a comforting sense of home, while Japanese guests can enjoy an exotic feeling as though they have traveled to China. The stews that warm you to your core are especially popular, drawing crowds day after day. Its greatest commitment is using fresh vegetables carefully grown on its own farm in Ibaraki Prefecture (味坊農園). With authentic seasonings and traditional cooking methods, you can enjoy a leisurely meal alongside carefully selected natural wines! 【Highly recommended】“酸菜白肉,” with addictively savory and sour flavors When visiting, start with the enduring signature dish you absolutely cannot miss. 酸菜白肉(スワァンツァイバイロウ) This hot pot features “fermented napa cabbage,” slowly fermented in-house from cabbage harvested on their own farm, and richly savory pork belly, simmered slowly in a special iron pot. The refreshing acidity of the fermented cabbage and sweetness of the pork fat melt into the broth, creating an astonishing depth of flavor! It also pairs surprisingly well with natural wine. A variety of northeastern Chinese stews with an unwavering commitment to authentic flavors Besides the signature 酸菜白肉, more authentic dishes follow that keep the drinks flowing. Northeastern Chinese soy sauce-based stews (a variety of rich stews enjoyed locally, featuring the flavors of soy sauce and spices. Their gentle, comforting deliciousness seems to warm the whole house) Dishes featuring seasonal vegetables direct from the farm (creative Chinese dishes that simply bring out the savory flavors of freshly harvested seasonal vegetables, perfect with both meat and drinks) This wonderful restaurant lets you experience truly authentic Chinese food just as it is served in China while staying in Japan, leaving your heart and body warm and satisfied. Recommended! Be sure to visit!

A sister restaurant of 味坊, which everyone knows The two-handled iron pots set halfway into the tables create an atmosphere you do not find just anywhere, getting me excited from the start Every cold appetizer was incredibly delicious! There happened to be an event this time, so boiled dumplings were the main attraction, but every one was outstandingly delicious—astonishing! Handmade chewy wrappers harmonized with fillings unlike the usual idea of gyoza I felt a soul that words cannot express A restaurant I definitely want to visit again

Visited for a drinking gathering. The fully visible kitchen is a nice style that feels unlike Japan. The restaurant's overall atmosphere also feels foreign—fantastic. Order the hot pot course and small dishes keep coming in overwhelming numbers. The main dish of lamb and daikon stir-fried and simmered in soy sauce has incredible depth of flavor, making you crave rice. The accompanying huajuan steamed buns also go well with the rich broth. One thing to note: with the kitchen fully visible, you also get a full view of the bold cooking. If seeing blood or ingredients in their whole form makes you uncomfortable, it is best to request a seat away from the kitchen.
