Authentic Chinese Food! Best in town.
View on GoogleToday's lunch exploration is at 新中華. Apparently this is a restaurant where office workers gather for lunch. It was not on the lunch set menu, but I went exploring for mapo. ^^ There it is—the lava kind! The mapo tofu kept bubbling for a while and was piping hot, but not as spicy as it looked, and generously portioned! Eating mapo spooned over rice really perks me up. Reporting from 新中華, a place to visit when you want to fill up on mapo tofu! ^^
View on GoogleThis Chinese restaurant is a few minutes' walk along the tracks from Tachikawa Station's north exit. The lunch offers outstanding value, so I stop by fairly often. The menu is different every time I come for lunch, so I believe it changes daily. You will not be kept waiting for your food. The portions are generous, so there is no need to worry about getting enough to eat. As for the flavor, every dish is excellent. Personal likes and dislikes cannot be helped, but considering the prices, it is more than sufficient. Actually, there is a course offering 100 food items and 50 drinks, all you can eat and drink for 150 minutes. If you have confidence in your internal organs, you are guaranteed to be able to eat and drink to your heart's content. So this is a lovely restaurant that is perfectly suited to anyone wanting to eat their fill.
View on Google【Updated comment】I used to think this was a good restaurant with affordable prices and generous portions. However, I visited as our second stop on a weekend during year-end party season. The usual Chinese female staff member recommended the “full 150 minutes of all-you-can-eat-and-drink” (3980円). Since it was our second place, I ordered the “evening drinks set” (1 drink + 2 dishes) posted on the table, but she refused, saying it was unavailable today. Then I asked her to bring the regular menu, which she did reluctantly. When we tried to order food and drinks from it, none of the staff came, even when called. After a while, the same woman insisted that the regular menu was unavailable today and that only “all-you-can-eat-and-drink” was available. Her attitude practically said to leave if we did not like it. There were indeed several groups waiting outside. Of course we left, but I had not felt so unpleasant in a long time. I was surprised that restaurants like this still exist in Japan... Of course, I will never go back. A zero-★ restaurant. 【Comment from 3 years ago】Lunch around this part of Tachikawa Station generally costs close to 1,000円. Lunch here costs 750円 or 800円, so considering the location, the value deserves recognition. The Chinese employees' friendliness and service are also better than at other Chinese restaurants. I ordered the “braised beef ramen & half-portion fried rice” for 800円 (tax included). Apparently lunch coffee is complimentary if you arrive after 13:00.
View on GoogleI ate lunch here almost every day. Every menu item is quite delicious, and because the cooking does not rely on oil, the food is light and never gets tiresome. It is exceptionally delicious. Also, lunch after 13:00 comes with complimentary oolong tea or iced coffee.
