Visited 「増田屋」 along Tachikawa Minami-dori, about a 15-minute walk from Tachikawa Station's south exit🚶‍♂️➡️✨. I came after hearing that it isn't a chain but is run by an artisan who became independent through the noren-wake system, so each shop tastes different. The food replicas out front are also helpful as a guide👀. Following my personal rule for first visits to soba restaurants, I ordered 「天ざるそば(1,300円)」🥢. The tempura was freshly fried and crisp! The vegetables were small but varied, and the shrimp was large and very delicious🍤❤️. The only disappointment was that the main attraction, the soba, was a little “lukewarm”😅. It felt as though it had been rinsed in room-temperature water; personally, I prefer it colder and firmer. That said, the spacious, traditional Japanese interior includes tatami seating and is very accommodating🍵. The menu also offers rice bowl and soba sets for around 1,000円. Such reasonable pricing is truly appreciated these days👏. They also seem particular about local Niigata sake. A lovely soba restaurant loved by locals for its wallet-friendly prices!

A long-established soba restaurant in front of Tachikawa RISURU Hall. The lunch menu offers generous portions, and food arrives without much of a wait even when it's busy. A good soba restaurant for everyday visits.

A soba restaurant in front of RISURU Hall, about a 10-minute walk from Tachikawa Station. It really always seems to be open, and stays open until 20:00, which is reassuring. The menu is also incredibly extensive, with various soba, udon, ramen, rice bowls, and more. This time I had the katsudon and udon set, plus seasonal young ayu tempura! I'd imagined young ayu tempura as something you'd get at a very upscale restaurant, but it was unexpectedly just 500円! I enjoyed it.

Visited for lunch after a long time. Ordered the katsudon set, and the soba was underwhelming.
