A fun experience tied with dinner. Reservations are highly recommended ahead of time as they have very limited spots. For dinner, they served a hot pot style individual serving paired with rice and a traditional chanko - a chicken and vegetable stew that’s part of a Sumo wrestler’s staple. The show consisted of a short video about the history of Sumo, Sumo 101 on the rules, and a short 3 round bout from the wrestlers. Afterwards, the remaining time is available for audience to put on a Sumo suit and participate. A fun and lively experience, good for families. A bit heavy on the touristy side, but this was the next best thing compared to a real Sumo match.
View on GoogleThis was so fun! We came on our high school trip and had a blast. We learned a lot, and the food was yummy too. The wrestlers taught us a lot and also made us laugh. They answered all our students’ questions and showed us how to do their exercises. We got to see a match afterward, and they had a host who was fluent in both English and Japanese so we could interact with the wrestlers smoothly. Highly recommend you come! It can seem expensive but you get the show and everything, and get to interact with the wrestlers, and get fed!
View on GoogleExtremely fun evening learning about sumo basics, tasty food and trying out sumo bouts. The chanko made by one of the sumo wrestlers was delicious, makes sense how they are able to eat it every day. Would recommend if you want to learn more about sumo wrestling and get traditional food.
View on GoogleWe didn’t get food as there was no availability for it. We went to a 1 hour show with no dinner. The experience was fun, my kids enjoyed it a lot. The sumo wrestlers are super fun and make jokes, you get to learn some of the basic rules of sumo and it is very interesting. There is a little bit of proper wrestling ( just a tiny bit) and then the audience get to wrestle them as well. It is fun and interactive. There are 15 mins of the hour that is taken in the end to take pictures. So really the show is only about 15-20 proper Sumo explanation, then the audience wrestling and pictures. For us it was worth it and fun. The staff is super friendly and answer to emails promptly.
View on Googlethis was a great experience. the host spoke english and japanese fluently so we didn't have any miscommunication. i emailed ahead due to inability to eat pork to ensure we got chicken meals. a couple seated next to us on the spot needed chicken as well and they accommodated them. the show was educational and entertaining and the food is very tasty and nutritious. definitely would recommend to try at least once.
