Absolute disappointment. I came to the restaurant at 17 35. My reservation was at 18:00 and the opening of the restaurant was at 17:30. They very rudely asked me to come back at my reservation time altough the weather was very cold. When I came back exactly at 18:00, I noticed that all Japanese customers were welcome and having their wine. A non-Japanese gentleman came around 18:20 and was behaved very arrogant for being late. They let the man sit at the farest place of the counter. Then, the man showed his reservation for 18:30 and they moved the man next to me ! There were no place to put our outwear and bags. We were told to put them under the counter. Taking into account that there were no baskets or hangers, we put them on the floor. The first thing I noticed was the disorganized counter. Napkins and menus were on top of the counter (please check the photo) The chef had 2 assistants, one young woman, one young man. The young woman made unbelievable noise all night long because she was collecting our empty plates, putting them on top each other with clattering and washing ! When she was not busy with these ordeals, she was continuously on the phone (confirming reservations?) . Please go for photos and videos The young guy was doing the service but even though only 1/4th of the counter was full, he did’t manage. I always had to ask for my pairing wine, etc. The starters shocked me. Simple green salad with tomatoes and cucumber. I prepare them better at home. Please see the photos The food was tasty but not creative at all. Each yakitori had grilled onions or mushrooms (mine was burned) or artichokes. Please see the photos. Eventually I got so nerved at the end of 2 hours that I left a little bit after the half of the menu. The menu price was about 13.600 Yen. I had two extra wines. Nothing worths that price I should stop trusting Michelin and paying stupid amounts
View on GoogleThis is my second time here. Everything is delicious and juicy, including those vegetables! The most delicious thing is chochin, which is my favourite! I will visit the restaurant again next time.
View on GoogleToriki used to be a Michelin-starred yakitori place and somehow played in the first division of yakitori in Tokyo. The reality is different, and I feel bad writing about it, but the place is completely down. The quality of the service is amateurish, even though the owner, an old man who runs the show, tried to support them. The skewers somehow lack the charm of charcoal, and the overall experience is too long and boring. It seems like Toriki's best times are already behind it. Hopefully, they can find their way back to their previous glory days.
View on GoogleI paid 283 cad $ for a dinner for three. This place is a rip off when it comes to quality food and experience and I would rate it the worst meal considering the price . The menu shows 8579 yen /something for a yakitori set and the chef hands over a drinks menu that says choose 3 non alcoholic/alcoholic drinks along with the set menu. We take 5 drinks and we are given salad, grilled veggies and a palate cleanser along with yakitoris. The bill comes to 32000 yen and 2600 yen is for the grilled vegetables which comes as a surprise as it was a set menu and the remaining amount was for drinks(apparently got a discount as per the chef). When inquired about the total amount, the chef apologized for the misunderstanding and lack of information presented to us. We left without showing disappointment but this was the worst experince and meal for the amount we spent during our tokyo trip. I would not recommend this and you are better off having dinner from a convenience store.
View on Googledelicious, love how smoky but yummy it is! would recommend with sansho for some dishes :)
