This was quite the treat after a long 7 hour flight from Bangkok, another 2 hours in customs, and then 2 hours figuring out how to get from the airport to the hotel. When you first walk in you are immediately greeted by the head chef and his staff. I sat at the counter as I wanted to watch this master of 40+ years cook. I asked for permission to take pictures of him and his artwork and he graciously accepted. I went with the 10 piece nigiri 🍣 set, omakase style, letting the chef make all the decisions on the pieces of meat he would use. He did not disappoint. From the artful sake pour in a 2 cup mechanism creating a perfect zen balance of water dripping into the cup, to the first appetizer of tiny squids in a flavor sauce, to the 10 piece nigiri set which included a slice of wagyu, uni, roe, and many of the classics, the meal narrated a beautiful story. The fish was perfectly seasoned and I didnt even think about pouring additional soy sauce on it. The artful craft of each slice, color, and flame used to achieve the final dish was exquisite. Truly a hidden gem that only seats 10-20 people.
View on GoogleAmazing and fresh. This is why I love Japan food so much. Small restaurant on the corner street but hides an amazing experience inside. Easy table seating or at the the long table watching g the expert chef make the food. English menu also available. And of course a great selection of Sake.
View on GoogleI’ve been fortunate enough to experience great sushi in NYC, LA, and internationally, including other spots in Tokyo. Sushi Kinari is likely a top 3 sushi spot I’ve ever been too. The fish was phenomenal quality! Otoro was elite, the 15 piece nigiri set was masterful, and each cut of fish I had was immaculate. Uni was Michelin caliber. Even the soup at the end was next level. Must-try sushi spot if you know your fish. Bravo to the Kinari team… arigato!!
View on GoogleI had an absolutely wonderful experience at Kinari in Kinshicho. This place was highly recommended to me not only by local Japanese people but even by an Uber delivery driver and they were all completely right. It's truly a gem. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the staff treated me with genuine kindness. The food was exceptional - beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Every dish exceeded my expectations, and I left feeling truly satisfied. It's the kind of restaurant that leaves a lasting impression. If you're in Kinshicho, you must visit Kinari. With amazing food, a cozy atmosphere, and strong recommendations from both locals and even an Uber driver, it's absolutely worth the visit. You'll be happy you came.
View on GoogleStaying in Kinshichō we thought we’d try out this local sushi place based on earlier good reviews, and we were totally delighted. We’ve been to lots of other places in Tsukiji, Toyosa and elsewhere in Tokyo but Sushi Kappokinari beats them all for the range and quality of fresh produce available. There’s an English menu and the staff and sushi chef are very helpful and kid friendly.
