The ramen here was okay—not bad, but definitely not great either. The owner wasn’t very friendly, creating a tense atmosphere that made me feel uncomfortable and eager to leave quickly. Places like this might lose customers over time. I wouldn’t recommend it to travelers.

I had the Zennori Shoyu Ramen and a bottled beer (Yebisu). True to the "everything on top" style, it's loaded with toppings like chashu, seasoned egg, and nori, so you can enjoy a variety of flavors in one bowl. The shoyu soup is full of umami yet has a clean aftertaste, and it balanced well with the noodles. Drinking a Yebisu while waiting for the ramen is one of the pleasures too. I think it's an easy place to drop by when you feel like ramen in the Morishita/Kikukawa area. Next time I'd like to try a different ramen.

A shop in the Kikukawa Station area of Sumida Ward! A powerhouse that's a regular in the Famous Shop Niboshi category of the TRY Ramen Awards, the industry's most prestigious award, and won Bronze at the Ramen Walker Grand Prix Tokyo The owner is Tsubasa Takano, who trained at "RAMEN 渦雷" (now: Uzu to Kaminari) Visited on a holiday evening and it was quiet The interior is clean Cash-only meal ticket system This time I ordered the "Shoyu Ramen" The soup combines niboshi extracted for pure umami with shellfish like shijimi and asari clams, and together with the deep shoyu tare, the overall impression is Japanese-style Since it's free of chemical seasonings, the solid dashi flavor really stands out, and the lovely aroma and lingering shellfish broth are appealing too The noodles are thin noodles from Sugano Seimen, with a slightly higher hydration level The chashu is pork loin and chicken breast Low-temperature cooked, gently locking in the umami I enjoyed the fresh texture of the mizuna too and finished every last drop A bowl where the technical skill of the soup shines It comes down to taste, but as a light niboshi I think it ranks among the best in the country TRY Famous Shop Niboshi 5th place (2025) TRY Famous Shop Niboshi 5th place (2024) TRY Famous Shop Niboshi 4th place (2023) TRY Famous Shop Niboshi 7th place (2022) Ramen Walker Grand Prix Tokyo "Bronze" (2024-2025) Tabelog 3.67, 7th in Sumida Ward Ramen Database 94.180, 6th in Sumida Ward Personal rating ☆4.6 / Individual variance: medium to large

2026.03.22 Ajitama Ushio Ramen + Aedama The soup has a gentle flavor with strong notes of shellfish and shiitake. It's tasty, but personally the shio didn't really hit the spot for me. The noodles are medium-thin and straight. Easy to slurp, but even with the soup the impact felt weak. The toppings—low-temperature cooked chashu and chicken chashu—are very moist and high quality. What bothered me was that the seasoned egg was a bit lightly flavored and didn't stand out much, and I didn't like the texture of the menma. The aedama tasted more of chicken oil than salt, and again felt on the gentle side. It doesn't pair that well with the ushio soup. Overall it's tasty, but based on the ushio alone I won't be ordering it again. When I revisit, I want to try the signature shoyu and judge overall.

A ramen shop I found by googling! Unfortunately I had no small change, so I asked the owner to break a bill. They just glanced at me and said nothing (a really bad attitude 👎) After buying a ticket and sitting down to wait for my bowl, the owner was busy chatting away with regulars… Before even getting to the taste of the ramen, what kind of business is this? First niboshi in a long time where I couldn't finish the soup. Never going again!!
