This place serves 7 types of tantanmen, each being of a different color, due to the ingredients. All tantanmen are 880 yen. PURPLE tantanmen: Noodles and soup are nice, not extraordinary, but it's refreshing to have this unusual taste, with purple onions and purple cabbage. I chose the spiciness level 1 (the lowest of the restaurant) , and it was still very spicy to me. Be careful. A 0 or 0.5 level would be good. I took the egg and the roast pork as toppings, none of them a failure nor a success, both being of an acceptable quality for 100 yen. The golden potato gyoza were disappointing, most likely industrial frozen stuff, if I trust the judgment of my eyes and my palate. You need to buy tickets from the vending machine at the entrance of the restaurant, but some choices are made later, like beer or gyoza. That means you have to buy a different ticket for each type of tantanmen or ramen you want to eat, but there's only one ticket for all the different beers and only one ticket for all the different gyoza. You must tell the staff which is your choice afterwards. You get automatically free and unlimited white rice and drinks, as self-service. And drinks aren't the usual soda overstuffed with sugar. There are different types of tea, cold coffee, and water. They put big charcoal rods in pitchers of water, to remove limestone, not sure if it is needed, but it's certainly funny. There are also rubber bands available for long-haired people who want to avoid dipping unwanted bits in their broth. They have a quite wide choice of bottled beers, like chimay red, hinano, faro, coedo, etc. All beers are 550, Belgian ones just as well as the usual Japanese kirin, which is an incredibly good price in Tokyo. The place itself is nice, very clean, Non-smoking, colorful, decorated, with 3 four-seats tables and a long 15 or so counter facing the wall. I was there in February, and I felt a little cold, with a cold air stream running from the entrance door to the kitchen extractor hood. On a Sunday afternoon, the place was far from full, about 15 customers in 3 hours. Music is aired, old 80's English songs, energetic ones. Overall, it's worth a try, for the experience, quite pleasing compared to the usual old, ugly and dirty ramen places even if the ramen (tantanmen) itself isn't extraordinary.

【Spiciness reference information included】 The basic Red is an authentic tantanmen. If you prefer Japanese-style flavors, I recommend starting with one of the other variations. There are many kinds, and all are consistently high quality. Unlimited rice refills and free drinks make it great value, and I keep finding myself coming back. Since it's a little away from the station, you can enjoy high-quality tantanmen with almost no queuing even on Saturdays and Sundays. Spiciness reference data Level 4: Gomoku Moko Tanmen at Moko Tanmen Nakamoto Level 5: Hokkyoku at Moko Tanmen Nakamoto (Note) This comparison is purely subjective. I've included spiciness reference information using Nakamoto in Kameido as the benchmark.

Their selling point is colorful tantanmen. Prices start at 880円, which is a little high, but ordering noodles comes with free unlimited drinks and rice. You can choose spiciness from 1-5, but if you don't handle spice well, you might want to avoid 3 or higher.. There are also table seats inside, so groups of several people are fine.

I've had Yellow and Orange, and both were delicious. There are 5 spiciness levels, and around level 3 is just right, a level most people would enjoy. I think level 5 is so spicy it'd be tough to eat, but if you like spicy food, you could give it a try.

I had Red tantanmen DX (spiciness level 2). You can choose spiciness from 1〜5, and level 2 seems to be the standard. Level 2 isn't that spicy and suits most people. If you like heat, I think you should choose level 3 or higher. The ramen is delicious too, with a rich broth for tantanmen. You're supposed to grind sesame seeds while waiting, but the ramen arrived so quickly I didn't have time. (laugh) When you order noodles, you can help yourself to white rice and drinks.
