もゝんじやMomonjiya
A long-established specialist in shishi nabe and game cuisine in Ryogoku, spanning ten generations. Fully private rooms are provided for parties of 4 or more. Just 5 minutes from Ryogoku Station and near the Kokugikan, 【ももんじや】 has served shishi nabe for ten generations. With its characteristic deep-red lean meat and white fat, wild boar hotpot is also called “botan nabe” because of its coloring. The longer the most delicious belly cut is slowly simmered, the more flavor penetrates the fat, creating a rich taste. We offer individual dishes and various courses, popular for gatherings such as group meals and banquets, as well as casual visits for 2.

Visited this place to try out their bear hotpot, although they are mainly famous of the wild boar. I was seated promptly, the ordering was efficient, the waitress was very attentive and tried her best to explain the courses. The place is very clean and elegant, tasteful. The dishes were beautiful, some are chewy, some are more tender. Very glad that I was able to experience bear meat here.
View on GoogleOne year ago I entered this restaurant, "bookmarked" years prior, after the hotel receptionist kindly booked a table for me. The experience was fantastic in all respects. The lady who attended me made my stay and dinner unforgettable. The "wild animal meat course" had me sample boar, deer and bear (all very tasty/interesting), although the deer sashimi won my heart. Whenever I return to Japan🤞, I will visit again for the menu and bring a boar pottery tile i commissioned for the restaurant. Arigato gozaimasu!
View on GoogleMy all time favourite place for eating game food in tokyo. They serve great inoshishi nabe here. Would go for the recommended inoshishi course. The deer sashimi is excellent, as well as the tatsutaage. We also tried bear nabe, which was interesting, though a tad tough. Definitely worth a visit! The staff are friendly.
