An old-school neighborhood Chinese restaurant near 錦糸公園. I'd been curious every time I passed it on a walk, and finally went. I ordered 餃子 and 五目そば. Are the 餃子 deep-fried? They were packed with filling and delicious. The 五目そば had a light, salt-based broth. With kamaboko and datemaki as toppings, I thought, is it New Year's? lol Smoking is allowed inside, so be careful if that bothers you. I'm also curious about menu items like omurice and katsudon. I'll go again!
View on GoogleI visited because I wanted omurice from a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. It was around 13:30 on a weekday, with 3 customers already there, and several more came in after me. The counter stools were high and had no backrests, so I asked the staff and used an empty table. They provide a hand towel and barley tea, but the tea comes without ice, so it's very lukewarm. There is no ice in the refill pot either. Also, rather than placing a pot on every table, they brought one over when my glass was empty. There was one staff member in the kitchen and one on the floor, and I think the omurice took about 15 minutes to arrive. (If one person is handling everything, I think that's within a reasonable range.) This was my first encounter with omurice topped with red pickled ginger on the ketchup. Couldn't it be served beside the omurice instead… The types of acidity are different, so it tasted rather strange to me. The egg was oily and heavy, but the ketchup rice had large pieces of onion as an accent, and although strongly flavored, it was enjoyable. The soup was also very much to my taste. If this is the base for their ramen broth, it's good enough to make a return visit for ramen worthwhile. The side salad was surprisingly tiny; I'd be happy if I could change it to a normal size or something, even at an extra charge. I recommend this place when you want omurice that's different from a Western-style restaurant's version, with a hearty rather than gentle feel.

I couldn't get here for a while, but my schedule finally worked out that day. 麻婆豆腐 The tofu was slightly broken up. Sweet when you eat it. Surprisingly, plenty of shiitake and bamboo shoots. Nice texture. Plenty of minced meat too. Comparatively little tofu. Not much heat or umami. Good value for money. 五目そば When one dish is sweet, the other dishes tend to be sweet too. Starting with the soup. Sweet, as expected. A kombu-like flavor? perhaps? Gentle flavor. But quite lightly seasoned. Looks pretty. The datemaki characteristic of 五目そば is there too. Mostly napa cabbage, but seafood too, so well balanced. Unusually, wakame as well. The chashu is thick and meaty. But relatively few toppings. Reasonable when considering the value, though. Looking at the menu, is karaage their top recommendation? Popular, perhaps? All the customers coming in were snapping photos. Seems to have many photogenic dishes. The little side dish is a nice touch. The tea, small side dish, and hand towel convey thoughtful service. A very good place. No complaints about the service, ⭐︎5.
View on Googleタンメン:690円 The noodles are cooked slightly firm and have a nice texture. A suitable amount of meat. The vegetables seem a little sparse. There are also bamboo shoots and wood ear mushrooms. The broth is low in oil, light and refreshing, and delicious. It came with a tiny salad and a boiled egg, so the value for money isn't bad. By the way, smoking seems to be allowed at all times. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleAn old-fashioned neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Smoking is allowed. Regular cigarettes are OK too. You'll have to wait if you don't come early. The fried rice is lightly seasoned. The omurice has a stronger flavor and an old-fashioned style; recommended. The sauce yakisoba might be a little salty.
